Preseason Game 2 Open Thread: Raiders at Bears

Football has finally returned to Soldier Field. For the first time since December 28, 2009 Chicago Bears fans will get to witness their beloved team in action on their home Week 1 of the preseason in San Diego was wholly unremarkable. A few things stood out, like the tackling ability of rookie Safety Major Wright, but for the most part, we didn't see too much excitement. Tonight should be a different story, at least on the offensive side of the ball. With backup Caleb Hanie out with a shoulder injury, we should see Jay Cutler and company on the field significantly more than the eight plays we saw him last week. WCG prediction: Bears 26- Raiders 10 |

For the First and Last Time this Season
ZachZaidman The playing surface at Soldier Field is in outstanding shape today
"I was interviewing George Halas and I asked him who is the greatest running back you ever saw. And he said, 'That would be Red Grange.' And I asked him if Grange was playing today, how many yards do you think he'd gain. And he said, 'About 750, maybe 800 yards.' And I said, 'Well, 800 yards is just okay.' He sat up in his chair and he said, 'Son, you must remember one thing. Red Grange is 75 years old.' - Chris Berman

NFL.com
has a preseason option where you can watch it live and in HD for $$.
If you want cheap/free, then I used to use justin.tv. The problem with that is you are always having to bounce from stream to stream. I didn’t wanna do that, so I shelled out the $40 for the pre-season games. It might be cheaper now that one week is already over with.

at what point in time do non serious people who haven’t been here all summer allowed to comment on the Bears?
Sorry, I’m not meaning to come across as an arse about it, but I doubt I’m the only one who’s annoyed when people pop up and the very first thing they do is to start rehashing topics (Forte sucks! Sign Matt Jones!) that have been debated at great length and in detail by some of the very knowledgeable people contributors over the past few months.
To be constructive, maybe a recap thread / FAQ summarising the major pros/cons on these topics wouldn’t be a bad thing.

I wonder why they didn't sign someone just for this game?
Maybe there wasn’t room? Or they wanted to see how Clark would do in case Mannely got hurt during a regular season game? Or they didn’t have the roster space?

Let's see
Cutler: 7/15, 99 yds, 1 TD
Forte: 5 car, 109 yds, 1 TD, 89 yarder
Hester: 2 car, 20 yds; 1 rec 29 yds
Olsen: 3 rec, 26 yds
I think the offense has looked good for the most part.
