Rex Grossman to start this week

When the Washington Redskins travel to play the New York Jets in this Friday's preseason match up, former redheaded stepchild and current President of the F*ck It I'm Going Deep Club will start in place of injured quarterback Donovan McNabb.

With Donovan out, Rex Grossman will play the first half and possibly into the third quarter. In his first two preseason games, Grossman has completed 25 of 39 passes for 335 yards with two touchdowns (1 INT, 97.7 passer rating). Granted, it is preseason and he is facing second and third stringers, but apparently this is the most confidence he has had since entering the league 7 seasons ago.

Personally, I doubt McNabb, at 33, can stay healthy for an entire year. It should be interesting to see how Grossman fares under the tutelage of Mike and Kyle Shanahan.

Good luck to the Sex Cannon

I enjoyed his time here. It was always interesting to watch.

LOL!

Hey I’m an unashamed Grossman fan so I’m actually looking forward to see how he does. He’s actually played well this pre-season. And you’re right, there’s a strong chance that he’ll be the Redskins starter by week 6.

Yeah but it worked!

AMEN BROTHA!!

Another Proud Rex supporter here!

He has looked real well so far in preseason we all know mcnabb will miss 2-3 games i think rex will do decent under GOOOD!!!!( cant stress that enough) Offensive minds.

Not like the likes of John Shoop, Terry Shea or Ron Turner

Me too!

I’m hopin’ for some Sexy Rexy success in Washington. I always thought he was screwed by having Ron “The Douche” Turner as an offensive Coordinator. Had he actually been d-e-v-e-l-o-p-e-d here in Chicago (something of a dirty word under the Smith Regime) we might not have had to trade away so much to get a franchise QB.

I hope he does well

I love the pic. Cause he totally played that way.

Really could he play any worse than the Arizona game? Good luck Rex.

Do you think Grossman

has RG8 shirts like Cutler has JC6 ones?

If I did what I love for a living, what would I do in my free time?

The sex cannon:

ready to launch into the stratosphere again! My hope is that he’s the starter when the ’Skins play us.

Not me......

I want him to be successful, so I don’t want to have to root against him (which I will without a second thought if he plays against the Bears)

I find it ironic

That the Redskins have Grossman who was the Bears poor man’s Cutler during the Superbowl run and the Bears now have Cutler who was the success of Shanahan in Denver.

AND

We have Collins, who led the Skins to the playoffs when Campbell went down at the same time Sexy Rexy was…uhm….leading us to training camp?

He will probably get a few regular season starts

Due to McNabb’s injury history so he will make plenty of completions to the other team.

by DaHamsta on Aug 26, 2010 7:50 PM CDT reply actions

I wanted Rex to do well for us...

so f’n badly. The injuries and the basket case mentality ended up winning outright to the point where I could not stand him!! If he has a great year for them should Donovan go down, I would credit that to a real coaching staff instead of Lovie Smith and prior company. I am truly interested in seein how things pan out for him.

Walter Payton lives on!!!

Rex is a metaphor for so many bad marraiges.

Great on the honeymoon, but after a while you’re lucky if they’re good once a month. Finally, after a spell of wondering if you’re going to get it or not, you figure it’s not worth it, get a divorce and don’t want to see them again.

Of course I’m only speculating, since I’ve been married 35 years.

Congrats on that, you are a rare breed these days. My parents just celebrated their 37th on the 25th of Aug. I’ve only been married 3.5 years so I can only aspire to attain your numbers.

Looks like Rex Cannon kicked the ball out of his own endzone and would up giving up a safety.

And

Rex finishes 8 for 16 for 111 yards but 2 fumbles…..

Never understood this orton Vs grossman thing….Heck I remember orton fans posting on the Bears board on how orton was starting and grossman couldnt even find a job at the time…..

Getting to know Mike Martz offense with this offensive line? It’s just hours of pure boredom interrupted by moments of unbelievable horror.

i am looking forward to

watching sex cannon get some playing time this year. most of us can agree that given an average to good amount of time in the pocket rex could help his team out. a guy with the leg injury history having to play behind a line like the 2007 bears seems to be a bad combination in hindsight. false start fred was a dangerous man to a bears qb. as i am going to the redskins game, i might even bust out the grossman jersey if mcnabb is hurt that week. it was a shame how he ended up being a disappointment here. that said, i can’t wait to watch peppers make rex crap himself while he runs 15 yards in the other direction trying in vain to escape.

ok i mean seriously, what the f## is with that guy and the blitz though? looks so ridiculous sometimes, i mean really.
