Lovie at the Half....

Not how we planned

need to convert on FG

Let them convert 3 times on 3rd on TD drive not good

D played well he thought

Need to convert on FG or they would of had 6 points

We will correct issues in second half

Getting to know Mike Martz offense with this offensive line? It’s just hours of pure boredom interrupted by moments of unbelievable horror.

To Those Still Saying: It's only pre-seaon, "Get of the ledge"

We’re running multiple blitz packages. We’re running Hester in a frickin wildcat. We’re trying to execute and we’re completely failing.

Three of our four starting LBs are out with injuries. We’re an old team— esp on defense. We are letting Derick Anderson run roughshod over us with out Larry Fitzgerald.

Our special teams can’t execute. Our defense can not get off the field on 3rd downs.

We gave up another 3 or 4 sacks in one half to a mediocre pass rushing team. Our back up QB is out with a pretty serious injury and our franchise QB is taking hits non-stop.

So what does it matter if its pre-seaon or not?

by Adam T on Aug 28, 2010 9:06 PM CDT up reply actions

I'll say this about the offense...

It looked as if Martz wanted to try out some new stuff and see how the line would hold up. The line has been pretty good and when we needed to run we did. Problem is that Cutler isn’t sharp tonight and those picks are becoming an issue.

The Defense in terms of pressure is fine. The issue is the play calling from Lovie and Marinelli on 3rd down. The scheme has been figured out and just like Madden, teams are living off the slant. Also they coaching staff knew something we didn’t about demoting Peanut…he’s lost a step and should be our starting FS. His corner days are coming to an end.

Yeah but it worked!

by Dils on Aug 28, 2010 9:08 PM CDT up reply actions

Timing appears to be an issue, still, and I believe that’s what the Martz offense depends upon. He has been quoted as saying it takes two years to learn, and we’ve been hoping it comes together in one offseason.

He average well in YPC, he averages well in YPR, he's a standout on ST.....

Let’s here something more than your opinion. Maelvampyre. Because he’s produced pretty well for a third tier back.

This is not, I repeat not, Madden 11. ST matters. Teams do actually have roster spots reserved for players who are ST first and emergency backup second.

Look at it this way. Ayanbadeyo produced almost nothing on anything except ST. Adrian Peterson produced less in his first three years than Wolfe has. Tim Shaw and Brian Iwuh have collectively produced nothing in their time in the league other than ST contributions. Why are these players even in the league? Because in the really real world, ST players who excel at their jobs will always have roster spots. Ones who can put up reasonable numbers on offense or defense in the limited use they see will get even more attention.

For all the hyperbole, Wolfe has produced when asked to, and is a ST standout. There’s my argument. Where is yours?

Don't know why this is so personal for you

Maybe he is your nephew or something but here are some facts for you. He has 68 carries for 274 yards as a pro for a 4.0ypc. He has had one carry on a direct snap fake punt for 38 yards and had a draw play with a minute to go against the Browns for 36 yards when the game was way out of reach (30-6). Take away those 2 unusual plays and he doesn’t even average 3 YPC. Take a look at the replay of Mike Goodson 3rd string rb of the Panthers, that is what I want my third string back to look like.

"He is remarkably bright", a "terrific talent", the sky is the limit for Cutler"

-Mike Martz-

by tfrabotta on Aug 29, 2010 6:25 PM CDT up reply actions

First....

It’s not personal. If the Bears brought in a back that I thought was better at performing Wolfe’s job, then by all means, let’s drop Wolfe.

Second, If you take all the long runs away from any player in the league, their YPC drops. Can I take the best of every 34 runs away from Forte? Or Payton? It is really a silly argument. You can’t take the runs away, because…………THEY HAPPENED. That really was Wolfe running for 38 yards on the direct snap. An it really was Wolfe that ran 36 yards on the Browns. I can do the exact same thing to every player in the league. If I have to…..if you really want me to be that sacrilegious, I will take the couple of days to prove why Walter Payton was really only a 3 YPC back. Or AP, or Sanders (who holds the record for most carries for loss with 336 for -952 yards, as well as holding the record for most runs over 50 yards, so imagine how poor his YPC would be if we removed all those big anomalous runs)? It’s another straw man argument that carries no weight because the plays in question actually happened.

And lastly,m you want to take away Wolfe’s anomalous runs, but then want me to look at Goodson’s one highlight? Make up your mind.

We will disagree, sometimes, but you and I agree on by far more than will will ever disagree on. Hell, so far the biggest thing we have found to argue about is the third string RB that we both seem agree will not likely contribute much regardless of who fills the position. Cherry picking.....

the plays you wish to count is disingenuous. Does that mean that Olsen’s fake last season, which was horrible, does not count? Or Hester’s atrocious wildcat fumble?

The play was still a display of Garrett’s skills. Like it or not. I already pointed out the folly of cherry picking plays above. The real question must be: Did the play in question actually happen, or not? If it did, then not counting it is simple cherry picking. Break away plays are freak plays no matter who is running the rock. If you discount all the anomalies, every player in the league’s YPC would go down. You can’t do it to one, and not all. That., my friend, is disingenuous, at best.

As I said great college player. Have you other teams 3rd string rbs

in the preseason?? Did you you see the 49er’s guy against the Vikings? That is what I want my guy to look like..

Special teams is important

Wolfe has proven his worth in that area and that alone is reason for him to stay

This Defense

looks unchanged from last year. Peppers will help a little, but the scheme will be picked apart if anything happens to him.

Harris looked good.

I meant Tommie

looked decent tonight, I thought. He could really be healthier or he could be picking up a little advantage due to Peppers being on the field. Either way, this D will need Peppers healthy. They don’t look that impressive to me yet.

Hmmm

Dallas is stepping up. Is that before or after the 23-7 lose to the Texans?

That's Dallas looking sharp, so we must be deadly sharp with

the crap platter we served up tonight.

Just for the record.

Who wants to say “it’s just a preseason game” now? Same pathetic display 3 games in a row.

What are you going to be doing on Sundays?

Gosh, they were bad. I’m curious: what are the rest of you going to be doing on Sundays once this whole thing blows up? The Bears have been a Godsend for escaping the family on Sundays, but I don’t think that ploy will hold up this year. Any clever ideas that don’t involve work?
