Mully's Article on the TE Position
Was a damn good piece of sports reporting.
I wanted Olsen for a second rounder at the time but I’m not sure now who I think we should have picked up. The only real value might have been Taylor Mays but he is certainly not a sure thing.
Agree we have too many TE’s— wish we could have traded one in for another excellent DB or OL.
We could have gotten
the OL guy Denver got, that we were interested in, Nate Allen, Owasi whatever… a lot of picks were available at #42/44 for us.
I like Softy Olsen though

Hearing the Gate 68 is moving to Tackle
is the best news I’ve heard in weeks
He's a 300-pound man who moves like a defensive back. That's what you're dealing with." — Bears coach Lovie Smith on DE Julius Peppers
Brett Favre announces he WON'T return according to NFL network.
If you can't laugh at yourself you must not be very funny.
I remain a pessimistically hopeful Bears fan.
That's what I'm hearing on SC right now.
How is the NFC North looking now.
If Mike Ditka punched you in the face, you'd have to fight off the urge to thank him.
Here is a link to where the story is originating from
now mind you, as soon as I see Brett on TV saying he actually is going to retire and then the season starts and he actually stays home I’ll believe it.
Link pops like Favre’s ankle.

In relevant news
I hear Major Wright left practice with a groin injury…
just kidding… stay home Favre!
I hope he doesn’t come on TV… just retire, put out a message through associated press.

Favre is doing to the Vikings
what he was doing to the Packers…Holding their franchise hostage. It’s a month before the season starts and he pulls this? The Pack were actually right to leave him alone and go with Rogers
yup
but hey, their struggle is our gain. their QBs won’t be prepared, they’ve had little to no work with their receivers.
overall it’s BS what he’s doing to these teams, but for this year, and the future sicne Minn is on the decline IMO, I’ll take it

Yeah now they have an insecure Peterson
that can’t hold onto the ball and they lost their other RB to Da Bears. I hope Sidney Rice enjoyed that breakout year because catching balls from Rosenfels and Jackson just ain’t the same.
Well
We know that SR and TJ have been the only arms the Vikes have had in practice and now camp, so they won’t be totally unfamiliar. It was the same story last year, as well.
Neither of them bring what Favre could to the table, but they are both professionals, and I don’t doubt that they’ll work to be prepared.
My God though, it would pretty much make the north a 2-way race between us and the cheese.
If it is true then i agree totally
There is no way Minny gets a better record than us this year if Farve doesn’t come back…No..way.

Omiyale is right at home at RT?
Then how come he has been pulled, twice, for false starts? I would give him time because I believe it is his natural position, but he has at least 6 documented false starts in camp so far. Better than Olsen for a draft pick, based on that discussion, why not Olsen for Mankins? Just saying, though its probably too late now that New England drafted 2 TEs.
I'm not concerned about it because it's camp
This is where you’re supposed to make mistakes, right?
I would be concerned if he is still doing it by the third preseason game though.

Iglesias vs Davis
I wrote early in the offseason that I thought Iglesias could be fighting for playing time with Rashied Davis and/or a roster spot.
THis injury might really be the turning point in that position battle.

Steltz
He’s a true darkhorse candidate, and may have really benefited by being in the system for a few years now. With injuries to Harris and a minor one with Wright, he could possibly start some games this season. He may thrive as well cause he’s a LSU Tiger! It won’t have anything to do with Peppers ;) Cue Dane…

Steltz??? God help the Bears

shhhhh
Dane is lurking…
In the 8th grade Mike Ditka won his school's Science Fair with a model of a working volcano. There were 17 other working volcano's made that day, but only one named Mount Ditka.

I do remember a certain game against the lowly Lions
that Steltz came up with an end zone interception that saved the game for us…
Ah, yes, here it is:

LOL
Why are we the only two on this site that like Steltz? At least when he succeeds we can say “told ya so.”
WILDCARD BITCHES!!! YEEEEHHHAAAAA!!!!!
I like him as well
especially if he makes plays like that. Awareness, instincts, and anticipation are the best attributes for a FS, and he seems to have those. He may be coming into his own this season.

From everything I've read
This is by far his best off-season since joining the Bears. I’m not a fan of LSU, but since his game against Miss. State when he had three interceptions I’ve been a fan of Mr. Steltz.
WILDCARD BITCHES!!! YEEEEHHHAAAAA!!!!!
I don't care who steps up
It has to be one of them, so if it’s Steltz then so be it. Before his minor injury, Wright was playing well according to Lovie dovie. He’s got great ball skills and hitting ability to be a factor. The defense could return to the top-5 in the league overall and top-3 in turnovers if the safeties play well.

I like him...
I just like Afalava a bit more right now, so it bothers me somewhat that he may end up sticking while Afalava doesn’t.

What has happened to Afalava anyway?
I’m hard pressed to remember a player, at any position, who has fallen off the radar so far and so fast without a major injury.
I like Steltz
I remember a great open field tackle he made on Peterson in the second Minn. game last season. Only play of the game I had to look at replays to make sure who was involved. First thought: Great tackle, who was that? Second: Steltz? Nice, who’d he tackle? Third: AP? Damn, great open field, solo tackle on one of the best backs in the NFL.
If he’s improved his coverage I’m a happy camper.

Is my mind a'goin on me or am I watchin you jibber jabber like some sorta jibberty box. Jibber Jabber on! Jibber Jabber on!
Steltz = special teams player, not an NFL safety

Omiyale worries me
- Steltz deserves a chance. I’d rather see what he can bring, than watch more of the same (less than inspiring play from) Manning and Afalava.
- I hope Wright isn’t out long. I’m really hoping he claims the starting FS job early on.
I thought AL didn't do too bad last year.
Yeah he got burned by some routes and bit a lil too much on the play action but i thought for a Rookie he didn’t do too bad. He was very good against the run and had a mean streak.

Safety battles
I agree. I think Major Wright will have a big season this year and I’m expecting a lot of big plays from him. Just read the new issue of Bear Report and it says the starters are Manning at SS and C. Harris at FS. Wright and Steltz are backups and the last spot is between Bullocks & Afalava. Again, I’m expecting a big year from both Wright and Harris. Both guys can really hit, too.
