The most troublesome aspect to this pre-season are the comments by Martz and Cutler
I have never heard any professional coach or prominent player use the excuse that they performed so badly because they were nervous about doing their job well. Doesn’t that give them the excuse to perform badly during the season because they would be nervous since the games actually count? That is really troubling, especially after 6 months of preparing and it being the all important 3rd pre-season game where all teams try to look their best. I have said before that I expected the offense to have problems adapting to a new system but to hear that they get scared is unbelievable.
I almost wish they were starting the regular season against a stronger opponent than the Lions to get a better handle on where we’re at. If we beat them handily, it would be somewhat expected, if we lose to them it could put us in a tailspin the team might never recover from.
Nice read

Maybe we didn’t game plan against Arizona.

The dirty little secret no one likes to talk about.
There are only a few owners in the NFL to whom winning a SB is paramount. Most are more than content to have teams with enough potential to exite the fan base and remain profitable. Most successful NFL teams have owners that have other business interests that underwrite their dabbling in professional sports, whereas ownership of the Bears is the family business for the McCaskeys and unfortunately, none of Virginia’s children seem to have a burning desire to win the Super Bowl as long as their trust funds are flourishing. IMHO Virginia is a kindly old woman who lacks the aloofness required to make the hard decisions about holding their management accountable. I know she isn’t involved in the day-to-day running of the team, but I’m certain that the hiring and firing of the GM and HC must first be cleared by her.
I wonder if Lovie or JA will be able to find another job in the NFL when they are ultimately not rehired, after the fumbling of the team’s window of opportunity the past 3 years.
JA reminds me of the creepy dude who is sticking around, draining the old womans checking account
She trusts him and he just keeps the cash flowing out of the account.
