Week 2: Bears at Cowboys Open Thread

Week 1
Chicago Bears (1-0)
Dallas Cowboys (0-1)
Date: September 19th, 2010 Location: Dallas, TX
Time 1pm ET (12pm CT) Stadium Cowboys Stadium
TV: FOX (TV Maps Here) The Doomed: Blogging The Boys
Injury Report:

Big Week 2 today. The Bears still have a lot to prove. Was the big offense in Detroit a fluke? Was the defensive dominance a mirage? The Cowboys are returning home after a bitter divisional loss in week 1? Will they rebound to the team their potential says they could be? A win today goes a long way towards the Bears playoff plans in 2010.

By far the best live stream I have ever seen.

Great quality, no lag (yet) Watching the pregame right now. You can also make it full screen and the quality is still great. This is way way way better than justin.tv or homer.tv or any of those we have used in the past. You do have to download a program, but I did a little searching and it doesn’t sound shady.

http://www.veetle.com

It has the bears game, but doesn’t look like it has to many others yet. But it sounds brand new and that it will have more games as more people find out about it.

I read somewhere that the Bears have not won in these 3 stadiums

Texans stadium, Patriots stadium, and the new Cowboy’s stadium. Even if we lose this game, i want to show the world we are not a joke this year. Rise up and Bear Down!

How far you’ll think we’ll shoot up in the power rankings. I’m at 20 even if we dominate.

Angelo: Cowboys a 'statement game' for Bears
Bears general manager Jerry Angelo calls Sunday’s meeting with the Cowboys a “statement” game, but he’s more concerned about seeing his team clean up some of the mistakes that were made in the Week 1 victory over the Lions….

“You just can’t do that,” Angelo said on the Bears’ pregame show on WBBM-AM 780. "Turnovers (are) usually based on just carelessness with the football. Much harder to take because those are things that can’t happen in a football game. All players know that…..

“The goal line? We did what a team that has confidence in their offensive line and who they are would do — we went for it. We didn’t make it. That doesn’t mean it was a bad decision. I understand the criticism. As I said, the book says you (kick a field goal), but when you are less than a yard, you put it on your offensive linemen…..”

“It would be a statement game, obviously, because of the opponent and you are playing on the road,” Angelo said. “But right now what our focus is on is getting better. Cleaning up the things we need to clean up. That is the key, not beating ourselves. Whatever statements you make, you make. What we need to do is be a consistently good football team each and every week and that is our goal.”

Chris Carter said..

That the refs visited every training camp and explained the rules to the players. It was Johnson’s responsibility to understand the rule and make that play. I watched a lot of touchdowns last week and the vast majority either watched the ref to see him put his hands up, or gave the ball to the ref before the celebration. Sorry for him (not really) that it took a play like that for him to learn the rule but i think he will not do that again the rest of his career.

Greetings

New poster, old Bears fan. I’m from Chicago, but I live in Ottawa, in Canada these days. I’m usually not sure if I can get a day game, without going to the bar, until that Sunday. But I’ve ot this one (in HD even) so I’m gonna watch and post occasionally. Just wanted to say hello.Hello.

To me this this is the "gravy" game

meaning that this is the game that most think the Bears are going to lose. I personally picked them to win this one but if they don’t, it still sets up well for a big game against the Packers next Monday. But if the Bears do pull this win off today… Then we may very well have something here.

Yeah but it worked!

by Dils on Sep 19, 2010 11:32 AM CDT reply actions

Lovie before the game

- Likes the new stadium excited about playing here today

- Its just another game. First big road game and would be big win

- We have an idea on what type of football team we are and have to go out there and prove it today

- We have addressed mistakes now just have to go out there and correct them

- Also have keep doing the things that worked last week

- For most part same guys as last week. Bennett back though and see what he can do. Has looked good in practice

- Lot of weapons on dallas offense starting at QB one of the best in the game

- Every thing we do starts up front. Waiting for another person to step up though and win that battle today

- their front seven is strong and will be a challenge

- Used the message that this is the home of the Super Bowl and using that as a message “Would love to come back”

It was very boring. Followed by a short period of terrifying….

Sure.

But you should essentially have someone “on the couch” up in the booth to tell Lovie whether there’s a shot or not. On that one, it was plain as a day that it wasn’t a fumble.

I honestly struggle to see how it could even be interpreted as close. It was a horrible challenge.

I respect him for that. It’s still not a bad idea. He shouldn’t be basing his coaching decisions off of what the fans/media might think. He should be basing his coaching decisions off of what will win the Bears some games.

Lovie on WBBM

just got the going into the locker room interview. Said they’ve adjusted blocking schemes (‘chipping’ at the sides) and playcalling a bit.

I'm not so mean. I wouldn't ever go out to hurt anybody deliberately - unless it was, you know, important, like a league game or something. - Dick Butkus
