The Little Things

Stay connected for news and updates

Sometimes, in a game or even in a season it's the little things, pieced together, that lead to W's.

Here's 15 little things from the top of my head when thinking of the game that I thought were worth highlighting:

1. Tim Jennings calling a fair catch on that pooch kick off. Smart. Aware.
2. Dave Toub calling a time out before the On sides kick-- to make sure they knew what to do.
3. Tim Jennings avoiding the block in the back on the opening return from Johnny Knox.
4. Earl's downfield blocking on the Olsen TD.
5. Knox's downfield blocking on the long Hester side line reception (knocked Jenkins out of the game.)
6. Toe's batted ball in one of the first defensive series.
7. Hester's route on the 59 bomb to Knox-- he took all the safety help with him.
8. Robbie Gould sticking the ball 5 yards deep in the end zone with consistency on Kick offs.
9. Martz sticking with the run even though it wasn't really working that well.
10. Tackling in general: Can't really think of one missed tackle off the top of my head (except for Bullocks on the Bryant punt return TD)
11. The Quarter-back sneak.
12. Urlacher having the good sense to just fall on the ball.
13. Martz calling three straight running plays with 4 minutes left and a two score lead.
14. Cutler escaping the rush and throwing the ball into the stands--multiple times
15. Mannelly to Maynard and Gould--perfection again!
