Week 3: Packers at Bears MNF Open Thread

Week 1
Green Bay Packers (2-0)
Chicago Bears (2-0)
Date: September 27th, 2010 Location: Chicago, IL
Time: 8:30pm ET(7:30 CT) Stadium: Soldier Field
TV: ESPN, WCIU (local) The Doomed: Acme Packing Company
Injury Report:
nfl.com Gamecenter Forecast: 60°, Cloudy

This one's kind of a big deal. At stake tonight? Early control of not only the NFC North, but sole possession of first place in the entire NFC. A win over the Packers tonight would establish the Bears with a 3-0 record, 3 Conference Wins, and 2 of the ever-important Division wins. While I wouldn't call it a must win, it'd be very comforting to do so.

Additionally, at the request of some, and because we imagine that the comments will blow up, we're going to introduce you to the wave of the future:  Quarterly Game Threads. So keep an eye out for those.

Bear down!

none of those really shock me

Zaidman said Marinell and Lovie thought they had a better chance to win WITHOUT Tommie. With the suspect line Greenbay had i had Tommie inline for a big game with all the attention Peppers would get.

Actually(second thought)

with harris out i thought that meant wooton may be getting more reps. The coaches have been making good decisons so far….lets see

He is still young

Was drafted as a “project” and through training camp they said while he looked good the coaches pretty much said he needs quite a bit of work still.

Two Words.....

Matt Forte. Philly and Buffalo don’t have a RB who can block like a healthy Forte can. Some will say Omiyale and Shaffer are key to stopping Matthews. I disagree. It’ll Be Forte, Manumaleuna and Clark that will have to perform. I don’t know if any tackle in the league is capable of stopping captain ‘roids on his own, right now, so it’s going to come down to the talent of the help provided to the tackles. Forte will be the key. Mark my words. If Forte can do his thing helping out against Matthews, Da Bears will succeed.

watching NFL Primetime w/ trent dilfer

stated that the Bears offense “is all smoke and mirrors” and that they can be stopped by keeping everyone in front of them….Cutler is still Cutler and Martz offense will not succeed anymore….

Showed some plays with dilfer narrating…Forte screen from lions game was luck and poor tackling on the lions….forte TD against the lions was taking advantage of a mismatch and a bailed out by a good catch by Forte….The Olsen TD against was against casino blitz on straight fly routes…..

packers win big….Then later in the show praised the dallas defense and called them the best defense in the NFL….

OH WoW
Bears defensive Tommie Harris is inactive for Monday night’s game against the Packers. The Bears said it was a coach’s decision.

Harris was benched for one game last year and suspended for conduct detrimental to the team during the 2008 season. Harris practiced all week leading up to the game, and his left knee has not been a factor thus far this season.

Matt Toeaina will replace Harris in the starting lineup. Marcus Harrison is active after being inactive the first two games.

The other inactives for the Bears are safety Major Wright, cornerback Joshua Moore, running back Kahlil Bell, tackle Chris Williams, and defensive end Corey Wootton. Caleb Hanie is the third quarterback. Also, Israel Idonije is starting at left defensive end over Mark Anderson, according to the Bears’ public relations department.

Here we go again

Cutler just wants to lull the Packers D into thinking he’s as bad as last year.

"I feel like the pieces are in place. But we have to execute...It's about execution. You have to execute. You have to have a scheme that facilitates the strengths of your players. If it doesn't, then it's a bad scheme. It's that simple. So we feel real good about the parts in place on offense."

"We feel very good about this football team. We felt very good about our football teams in the past and it's no different. You've got to go out there and you've got to do it."
