Win two free tickets to "1985": Take the Bears trivia challenge!

1985_poster_image_top_large_medium

If you live in the Chicago area, if you're a fan of Chicago sports and in particular the Chicago Bears, if you're looking to relive some of the majesty that was those incredible Super Bowl Shufflin '85 Bears, then you need to see "1985" on Opening Night at the DCA Storefront Theater.

PAPA BEAR IS WATCHING YOU. Winston Smith is sick of losing. His Chicago sports teams let him down time and again, and he's through. Or is he? Is it even possible to disavow himself of his team loyalty? Bear down, Chicago, and discover what happened to the Cubs in '84; what treachery existed behind the ‘79 Disco Demolition; how the Eastland Disaster saved the NFL; and why the '85 Bears lost that game in Miami. On this 25th anniversary of the celebrated Super Bowl Shuffle season, Factory Theater imagines an Orwellian Chicago where winning isn't everything, it just might be the only thing.

All you have to do is be the first person to correctly guess all the trivia questions.

Star-divide

If you can't attend Opening Night, please don't attempt to guess.  We're hoping to have someone win the two tickets that will be able to go to the DCA Theater and have a fun night out.

Now on to the questions!

1)  How many 1985 Bears players were enshrined into the Hall Of Fame?

2)  Which two Bears players held out with a contract dispute and missed the entire '85 season?

3)  Which Bears defender scored the first defensive touchdown in the 1985 regular season?

4)  Name the Bears defensive players that scored in Super Bowl XX?

5)  According to Gary Fencik, which game in that 1985 season was the one that let him know they were "good enough" to win the Super Bowl?

6)  Which '85 Bears starting offensive lineman played defensive line in college?

7)  How many Super Bowl records did the Bears set in SBXX?

8)  Whom was Jim McMahon referring to when he said, "On defense he is the glue"?

9) What San Francisco 49er lineman was used in the backfield in their 1984 playoff win against Chicago, thus leading to Mike Ditka using William Perry as a running back in 1985 to payback Bill Walsh?

10) Which game did the Bears play the day before they recorded the Super Bowl Shuffle?

Don't tell me these questions are too hard!

In the 8th grade Mike Ditka won his school's Science Fair with a model of a working volcano. There were 17 other working volcano's made that day, but only one named Mount Ditka.

Give it time.

There are a couple of members who are in the Chicago area that I know will come answer the questions.

I'd answer, but.....

I couldn’t use the tickets, and don’t want to spoil it for someone else.

Great questions, though. Great contest, too.

Too far away. But I want to tell you I think this is a really clever, funny concept. I’d see this show.

Me too.

Which is a shame, because we both know all the answers, eh?

I can't make the opening night date and

I know 8 of the 10 for sure with a pretty good idea on the other two, but I’d have to look them up and that would be cheating in a format like this, in my opinion. Great questions, though!

Times wasting

If anyone wants to go to see the show just let me know and I’ll get you the tickets!

I’d answer but I’m already flying in from DC to go and have tix. I would have to look up at least 3 of the answers…

Your flying in from DC and have tix?

If you know of two people to go with you that would like the tix let me know and I’ll see what I can do.

I can surely take them off your hands.

but so everyone has the answers and since I have nothing to do at work…

1. 3 players: Iron Mike, Sweetness & Danimal. 1 god/coach
2. Al Harris and Todd Bell* (replaced by Wilber Marshall and Dave Duerson)
3. Leslie Frazier*
4. Reggie Phillips*, Henry Waechter* (safety) and the Fridge (on offense, sad sad sad day for #34)
5. Dallas (whole team of bums)
6. Jimbo Covert*
7. The Bears set seven Super Bowl records, including most points (46) and largest margin of victory (36).*
8. Singletary
9. Guy McIntyre* (bum)
10. Miami loss

I have a few friends that would be happy to go. Are you going to be there? Thanks.

All but #6

Mark Bortz was a D-Lineman in college!

email me and I’ll make arrangements!

Jimbo Covert

I’m sure Bortz was a D-lineman too but wiki says…

Covert entered the University of Pittsburgh as a defensive lineman. He played in every game his freshman season, primarily in short-yardage and goal-line situations. Covert received a medical red-shirt in 1979 due to a persistent shoulder injury that required surgery. In the spring of 1980, Covert was switched to offensive left tackle where he started for the next three seasons.

That question and the records question (#7 = 7, very clever) took me the longest to find. As we all know wiki is gospel :)

And THANK YOU!!!

haha, I thought this was the Glory Days show. I’m flying in for that, not the play.

My bad. It’s awesome you are giving them away though. One of these days I’ll learn to read.

My problem with the game this week was...

Partly Cutler, Part O-line, but mostly was the failure to adjust.

1 Cutler was holding on to the ball for too long this game. He should have had more quick reads and tosses to the flats.

2. The O-line play was just outstanding… From a defenses point of view. Any team that can get 9 sacks in the first half has to be good right?

3. Finally, The waiting for a man to get open was not working so why not try to establish the run more. The Football Giants stuck to it and ended up with some big plays. I know the line has to block for an effective run game but the D will give eventually. Its football 101. If the deep ball isnt working throw some more intermediate routes. Put your Larger receivers out there to make a play. Do something to be effective.

Our defense was very good once again only allowing 17 points. 3 in the first half. If we can keep playing like that Our offense really needs to put points on the board. Hope we can rebound this week with a big Offensive statement.
