Kraig Urbik Released

IN what looks like a numbers crunch, the Steelers released a promising young player picked in the 3rd round last year--G/C Kraig Urbik out of Wisconsin

Star-divide

The kid didn't get on the field as a rookie but has reportedly played well throughout the pre-season. He simply got into a numbers crunch and got cut. I believe he has high upside and I would love for the Bears to try and get him off waivers immediately.

A 3rd rounder? hmm, enticing option.

After checking out a few pages on him, this guy could be better than anything else we have at guard for the moment.

With Beekman gone, who’s our backup center?

Well

Walter is still on the roster so he could be a surprise non-cut and Garza has played some center too I believe.

So if Kreutz comes out, we disrupt the line even more by shifting Garza again and inserting another effective rookie at LG? What could possibly go wrong?

Wow and to think

we could of just Urbik instead of the guy we took ahead of him and just cut in Jarron Gilbert…Oh the irony.

Yeah but it worked!

Urbik is the real deal...

He could be a great G for us and a possible replacement for Kruetz!!!

I vote for it...

I was pissed the Bears didn’t get him last season. They needed a guard and got a pool boy!

IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO FIRE LOVIE!

I was wrong about Center...

He never played Center in College. The Steelers had him taking snaps at Center throughout the pre-season.

He did play T in college though so in that sense he could give us a little more versatility.

I really don’t think Webb has shown enough to other teams for him to get picked of the Practice Squad so I’d be all for a move to bring in Urbik and move Webb to the PS. Urbik gives us a second back up tackle and back up guard—something neither Webb nor Asiata provides for.
