Packers Play with More Urgency and Win NFC Championship
At least we made it to the NFC Championship game.
Just kidding.
The packers raised Papa Bear's trophy in our house.
Todd Collins had no business being the #2 QB.
Once Hanie came in the only way for us to have won would have been with his arm. We wasted downs and possessions on running plays for little or nothing.
Urlacher needs to score on the interception, not make a move, but run hard (He played great and still is phenomenal though).
Hanie threw it to Forte instead of Hester and Raji picked it off.
We continued to be terrible converting on 3rd downs.
I have always liked Cutler, but I am disappointed. Lovie was visibly disturbed when he was asked about Cutler during the postgame, making an awkward scratching of the chin gesture... I am reminded of the rumor that Urlacher's initial reaction to the Bear's signing of Cutler was that Jay was a "pu**y".
Some really poor officiating.
Going forward:
We do have a bright future.... but:
I say fire Lovie and Jerry Angelo. If beating the packers is their #1 priority then they have failed rather dramatically. I do like Martz and Tice though. New head coach... Ditka or Jordan are the best I can come up with right now.
We don't play with pads or live in practice... that is why it takes us awhile to start playing strong...!?!? This is what I heard and I would really like it explained to me.
As heartbreaking as this loss is, considering the opponent and how we extended their good fortune earlier, I expect Lovie not to go anywhere, as he is said to be a favorite of Virginia McCaskey.
Offensive Line, Secondary and WRs are the priorities. That said, other then Kam Chancellor, the guy I am hoping the Bears target if available in the draft (or even if they have to move up) is Mark Ingram. Mike Pouncey could play for us... A QB might not be a bad idea either....
Go Bulls!

Hanie
If nothing else, I was pleasantly surprised by Hanie. While he was far from great, out of the three quarterbacks that played, he at least seemed to give the offense some spark. If nothing else, he needs to be promoted to #2 because Collins wasted two drives.

Of our 3 QBs
Hanie showed the most energy and poise – especially given his lack of reps this year. I have no idea what happened to Jay. He almost seemed like he didn’t want to be there.
It’s too bad because our defense completely shut Rodgers down in the second half – many times having to defend a short field. It was really an amazing effort by Urlacher and Co. against the best QB in the game.
Our defense shut down the ball control offense the Packers started running after they went up by 14....
It would have been nice if they could have done something against the attacking offense that started the game and opened up that 14 point lead by marking effortlessly down the field on the opening possession.
And the short field goes both ways. When the defense didn’t allow a scoe, they allowed movement, which translated into the Bears having poor field position in the beginning of the game. The first drive the Bears O moved the ball 29 yards. They gave the D pretty good field position (Green Bay 10 yard line), but the defense let them get to mid field, resulting in the offense starting at the 16 (and the 11 after the penalty) that possession and when they couldn’t move the ball, the 2 the next possession. Then the Pack scored again and went to ball control.
Our defense is as much to blame as our offense is. Not that they did a horrid job the whole game. But that first QTR deflated our team. and the defense had a lot to do with that.

Cutler is our starter till he's not
But Hanie showed he’s worthy of taking more reps then Collins.

no mention of forte?
the guy ran his ass off, and showed he could be the featured star in this offense.

The local press seems to think that we'd save everyone the time and trouble if we just went out and shot ourselves. Me, I'm for wasting sportswriters' time. So I figured we ought to hang around for a while and see if we can give 'em all a nice big shitburger to eat!
Forte continues to impress
since he has been here Forte has been our best WR. Unfortunately Defenses know their chances improve if they just key on Forte and Olsen and force us to win with Knox and Bennett.
I agree
10 catches for 90 yards.
We need a go and get it wideout.
I was disappointed with the 3rd down call towards the end. i dont mind running but that gadget run was not the right call either smash it up the gut or throw it.
Hanie hats off to you kid you played your ass off.

You're back.
Did you have a nice hiatus? Thanks for contributing. I think we trade Cutler for Chancellor personally. Even up.

Check this.
4 quarters Rodgers puts up 14 points.
Hanie plays one full quarter puts up 14 points.
had Hanie been #2 from the get go we may have had a shot. Started twice in the thrid from the 40 and could have gotten atleast 2 fg’s

he put up 21 if you count the pick 6

Does anyone know what the rule is that Aikman and Buck were talking about regarding the 3rd QB?
If I understood them correctly, if you put your inactive 3rd QB into the game prior to the 4th Quarter, the first 2 QB’s cannot re-enter the game, is that right?
If that is the case, what the hell was the reason for putting him in with under a minute left in the 3rd quarter? That left the Bears with absolutely no options in case of an injury.
The 3rd QB is active but only as an emergency QB
If he enters the game, earlier than the 4th that means your other 2 QBs can’t play… and they put Hanie in at that point because it was clear to the entire world that Collins needed to go. As soon as they made that decision no point in throwing Collins back out there to finish up the third… he sucks.

I agree regarding Collins talent, or lack of it, but since they only had a few seconds left in the 3rd I think I would have
run a few running plays just to protect myself. Either way it’s a terrible reflection on the coaching. The decision to make Collins #2 was terrible after watching him earlier in the season and if they weren’t convinced by that, only 2 series shows you how terrible you are at evaluating personnel anyway. Leaving yourself no QB option for an entire quarter of football is inexcusable to me.
Hanie played well
Lets not get too far ahead though as Cutler is still the future at QB, but Hanie deserves to be the #2

Let's just say Hanie would have been hurt...
Do you really think Todd Collins would have been better at QB than Earl Bennett or what ever emergency QB they would have went with?
Collins is/was garbage.

Alright.
Collins is/was garbage.
But you can’t question his body language. ;)

because somebody, and im guessing it was lovie
had the balls to say collins isnt gonna get it done. i dont fault him for that move. if you feel like collins isnt going to make it happen you cant wait.

I understand that but my point is if all season you felt he was your #2, how could just two series be enough to change
your mind and then risk having no QB to play if Hanie gets injured? Just bad coaching all the way around in my opinion.
i think 15 other players on the roster
would have been better than that collins scrub. i would take pat mannelly long-snapping passes over that guy. he has no business at all playing in the nfl anymore.

They did not want it more than we did
we killed ourselves with our playcalling today. Jay missed Hester twice on two big throws but our playcalling on third down today was awful. We did not have a plan to be successful against Capers defense and to me that was the difference in the game. Add to that poor blocking as they were getting pressure with three guys occaisionally. Jay did not play well while he was in there but I don’t believe Martz put him in a position to succeed.
"Better lucky than Good", but we are good! We really are..
Jay missed Hester 1 time
The 3rd down throw on the opening drive wouldve been caught had Hester kept running when he cut sideline….he basically went from a sprint to a jog when Jay threw it…. Not to mention that jay had to drop back about 10 tds every passing play to have a chance of getting the ball off in time.

GB was better prepared
not more motivated. As you point out, the Packers were better prepared for the game than the Bears. They had a plan for beating the beating the Bears in all three areas, offense, defense and special teams. The Bears’ defense did make some adjustments and ended up playing well, only two TDs surrendered.

Want? I dunno
They started the game ready to play to win an NFC Championship game. While we were able to stay in the game, I did not feel like we were playing up to their speed until late in the 3rd Quarter.
Dumb headline
urgency had nothing to with yesterday’s results. Anyone who actually believe the Bears did not want the game as much as the Packers is just ignorant.

Only an idiot believes the Bears did not want to win and go to the Super Bowl
as much as the Packers did. Urgency was not the issue, preparedness was. The Packers were better prepared for the Bears than vice versa. Heart had nothing to do with the result, but whiny fans like you will still insist otherwise.
