Pittsburgh Steelers ground New York Jets; Will face Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl XLV

Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers rode a dominant running game, and held off a late-game comeback attempt by Mark Sanchez and the Jets, for the right to fight the NFC Champion Green Bay Packers in Dallas in two weeks.  This will be the third Super Bowl for the Steelers in the ten years. Is a dynasty brewing?

Packers open as 2 point favorites

I really don’t know why. Big Ben is going to tear them up.

Cheer for?

No one. I won’t be watching. I can catch all the funny commericals online the next day and that way I avoid the horror of Buck/Aikman telling me that Rodgers is the best player ever (someone on ESPN this week said he was a mix of Marino, Young and Montana. While I already had the stomach flu)

Meaningful football is over. And may not come back for a long time. Very annoying day.

he did play awful today.

and bears might have exposed some of his weakness. He also look pretty frustrated eventually in fourth quarter I think Steeler will try to exploit from todays game.

The bears know him nearly as well as the packers do.

I’m sure they’ll try but they’re had to match up to and he’s hard to blitz.

OK I got cut off.

You repeatedly questioned Cutler’s toughness in the in game thread. Did you not? I’m fairly sure it was you but I’m not attacking you, just questioning your line of attack in another thread. Got it??? Cause I don’t but Kev said some things and I got all fuzzy…..

I believe she pasted Chris Harris' twitter feed.

Allie has, in fact, questioned Cutler. Chris Harris, in fact, does not.

I did question it in the moment

b/c it was so sudden, and said that it would make me feel better if they showed him arguing.

So yes. I did in th emoment. But as more facts have come out, I know that Jay isn’t a wimp.

Ok

Guys, listen. I’m on OUR side. I think. But Allie was questioning Cutler and than defending him against other posters. I said I do the SAME THING. My point was we can ALL be hypocritical. And we (meaning you j/k) can call people out for it. I guess I’m actually VERY upset by the way that our fans posted overall. The trolls rolled in and out and things got ugly. But let my favorites try their best to remain pure in my in game threads.

I was during the game

but now that more facts are in that opinion is no longer valid. Right? I mean, when the news first came down, him being out was weird. (and being called questionable still weirds me out, if he can’t go just call him out). But now that we know more (and have all had a few hours to catch our breath) logic should prevail.

So, sorry if I’ve been hypocritical today. But opinions need to evolve as facts develop.

Agreed. Totally. 100%

It is just that, occasionally, during the threads, we can all get hypocritical. Let’s all own up to it. I actually want to do a complete post on it, but I’m scared to call out the regulars on it. I might make enemies. Sometimes I don’t like being a contributing writer. I just want to be a fan.

Don’t tell my wife. I was typing out “uts” on my post of “guts” below when your post came across. I probably won’t make it my next post, but in the future I think we all (me included) need to do better in the in game thread. Although I think we all do better than anyone else out there.

Part of the problem is that

what makes the game threads so enjoyable is the emotion. We all feel it. As long as things go fine, its fun and games. But when they go bad, we all go a little mad. Which would be fine, probably, but then the trolls roll in. And it goes from an upset group to angry mob.

Today wasn’t pretty.

I feel like I should explain this more fully:

Ignoring this game, there is nothing in my history of watching Jay to make me think of him as a wimp. We’ve had numerous indicators of him as a tough guy: on scrambles, on taking hits after plays, on trying to block, on everything.

Steelers

The Steelers don’t really play the Bears type of defense though and they don’t change their identity even when they’re completely mismatched. Take the Steelers/Pats game from the regular season for example.

I doubt I'll watch the Superbowl

My feelings about the Packers are most definitely quite clear. (insert explictive here)

But I don’t care for the Steelers either. They aren’t the same club as when Bradshaw / Harris / Green used to play. I was a big Steelers fan as a kid but the current crowd (with the exception of Troy Polamalu) turn my stomach.

Kev?
This will be the third Super Bowl for the Steelers in the ten years. Is a dynasty brewing?

Don’t you mean 3rd in 6 years? If they win, gotta be considered a dynasty.

I know New England won 3 in 4 years and were the first repeat champs since the Broncos, which presently seems like an impossible task, but 3 wins in 6 years is pretty impressive as well, especially if they go 3-0 while New England lost their 4th chance at a Super Bowl win in 7 years at the time. Sheesh the Patriots are good…

i feel sick to my stomach.

We opened the game and played very poorly. The D stepped it up but it took Haine to get the offense going? Maybe we can finally get ri of Collins and hopefully shore up the Lines.

This game

just made me sick. the poor time management, the first down conversion timeout killer…again.

Why Todd ‘interception’ Collins was ever #2 blows me away. Why the Bears only play one half of football confuses me.

I hate that team more than anything else in this world – with the exception of terrorism and parking tickets – and the only pleasure I can possibly get out of football now is watching Rodgers get anally eviscerated by James Harrison.
