Bears Planning To Bring In O-Linemen
Michael C. Wright, of ESPN Chicago, is tweeting that the Chicago Bears are supposedly bringing in Offensive Linemen during the bye week. Not really sure what's out there, but it can't get much worse. Can it?

Jarred Gaither?
Or maybe Leonard Davis
Jay Cutler is our QB, and I for one am proud of that

Stupid is as stupid does. This is not the off-season, they already shot themselves in the foot. Too late, Angelo will need to go at the end of the season, along with Ted Philips. The new GM will bring their own coaches in.

YES!
And I’m sure Cutler will want a turn as well.
“Angelo has got go.” Would be a nice chant to hear from the crowd next home game.

Ya couldn't have done this during the offseason?
Couldn’t have brought in Dahl? Or any of the other dozen or so UFA borderline ProBowl linemen to take a look at? Seriously? You knew this line was hot garbage last season. Drafting Carimi and dumping Kreutz could not POSSIBLY have fixed this line. This is insane…
I want to smash my face against my keyboard
a win now team can not rely on 3 players starting different positions than they played the season before…all offseason, all the FA O-linemen…and now we’re looking for scraps…awesome

I hear the Dolphins are looking to trade away some of their trade bait players
to acquire some future draft picks. Bears should talk them out of Brandon Marshall

Hell. Yeah.
Marshall’s rapport with Cutler in Denver makes him well worth the possible locker room/off field issues that he might come with.

If and ONLY if said price is no higher than a 3rd round draft choice
I’m still a guy who values character…but given our current SITREP with our receiving corps I say give it a shot..

Didn't the Phins get him from Denver for a 3rd rounder?
I’m sure they wouldn’t ask any more than a 2nd…

Oh. And a link please?
I saw a little story on ESPN showing something about Brandon Marshall and some sort of “plan”, I honestly have no clue as to what said “plan” is…

That's his plan to get kicked out of this weekend's game for letting it all hang out.
Link. Yeah, it makes him look a little more like a loose cannon, but still, a Cutler-Marshall reunion would be worth it. Roy Williams can make the first down signals for him from the sideline.

Its not about passion, its about doing something stupid and hurting your team.
Brandon Marshall is likely the best offensive player they have, it’d be a waste if he were kicked out of the game.

meh
a wast of what exactly… him taking big hits in a losing effort, once again….
same thing will happen here in the next couple of weeks if/when we keep losing….
Cutler will get “injured” and miss a few games. Not only wouldn’t i blame him, but it would probably be in the franchises’ best interests if he didn’t tough it out by playing all 16 games in a waste of a season… You can already see the way he folds into sacks during 4th quarters when we’ve already lost… its only going to get worse the further we are from playoff contention…
Marshall is a great player on a crap team. I say good for him do what u want. Sure they get paid the big $ to do so, but its tough for me to think a guy should go out there every week and risk getting his head taken off on every play for a losing team…
AND its not that the team is losing that I think justifies players doing their own thing… even good teams lose, but in these cases, Management and the coaching staffs have let these players down, not lived up to their side of the bargain… so to expect players to risk serious injury to keep their side of the bargain isn’t fair.
Trade deadline is next Tuesday.
So if they plan on signing someone after that, it will have to be a player that is not currently under contract.
Meh
Does anyone know the rules on bringing in players for workouts and how long they have before they can sign someone following that workout? What’s the point in waiting, when they can take a look now… then make a decision during the bye week.
I also heard on the score Reggie waynn from colts is on trade block
So we have 3 guys out there i think we can get..
Marshall
waynn
Brandon loyd
Wayne*
And why is he on the block?

Contract issues
I believe he’s in the last year of his deal and wants a new one, but the Colts are bawking for some reason.
If its free, take two.
He's a 10 year vet who will only play maybe 1 or 2 more years
Not worth it

Dream on, guys. You know we're not getting any of 'em.
JA’s probably planning on picking someone up off a practice squad and forcing them onto the roster. It would be in line with his past logic.

Angelo is Delusional
And noone else in the Bears organization has the cajones to tell him so.
This offensive line will constantly be ‘learning to play along side each other’ and Cutler will continue to get pummeled.
Remember when Cutler came over here from Denver after clashing with their management? I’ll admit, a part of me was worried he would be a whiner. But the fact that he can put up with all this organizational ineptitude shows that he is as tough mentally as he is physically. (or maybe it’s just that Kristin Cavallari is that freakin satisfyingly sexy, i dunno)
We sure look pertty stupid getting rid of olsen now
Kellen davis cant even block or catch to good..Bottom line tho we need a LT and a WR very baddddd
Kellen Davis cant catch?
Well he is thrown to only like what once per game? Olsen wouldn’t be used well here anyway
We Are Guardian Force...READ IT!...BAM!!!
he had that one ridiculous drop a game or two ago
but davis is serviceable.

that is the problem
instead of adjusting your system to take advantage of a special talent, let’s ship him out for someone less talented but fits are system. Ridiculous. It was more about not wanting him to pay him after the season so they got a pick which will be on someone else’s roster within 3 seasons.

He cant catch or block he missed 3 blocks last game
What game u watching..?Players are going by him like hes standing still and hes been getting penalties..Your telling me hes better than olsen..?I dont think sooooo.
I never said he's better than Olsen you...
I said Olsen wouldn’t be used well here anyway. Why should he be here if he’s not going to be used? It would be kinda a waste…. Davis is serviceable but shouldn’t be starting. Spaeth the guy we got from FA should start
We Are Guardian Force...READ IT!...BAM!!!
Why are they looking at lineman?
JA already said he did everything possible in the offseason to improve the line, so there shouldn’t be anyone out there to improve the line, right?

THANK YOU!
Pretty impressive that you can do everything there is, then six weeks into the season do even more – Jerry Angelo, looking for lineman 150% of the time (according to his math).
If its free, take two.
I'd like to see who they bring in
I wonder if there are any practice squad players from other team that we could bring in.

Is it too late to have a lockout?
This is sad. Our O Line was an NFL punchline last year. Our O Line is an NFL punchline this year.
Same thing happens with WRs and the secondary every year. I don’t recall the JA quote but it is something like “we are very confident in the receivers we have going forward”.
Carimi was a decent pick, but a scrub is a scrub and our OLine is all scrubs.
Management is pathetic and incompetent and has turned this beloved franchise into a joke. Any success we have had in recent years has been in spite of management, while management’s incompetence has also capped that success… (rex starting, todd collins as backup)
With little to no young talent to develop, management notoriously bad at drafting, and management clearly dropping the ball on things like bringing in talent for the offensive line (today’s story) the outlook for the future is bleak.

newbie here!!
:)
that said, what is the point of bringing in O-line now? the season is toast unless somebody thinks we can defeat both Green Bay and Detroit in our next games. It would take that just to win a wild card.

well you can simplify the offense to help a new linemen or two get acclimated
but the point is to keep cutler off of IR.

im not too fond of the Marc Bulger treatment we are currently giving Cutler.

I've backed off the ledge a bit and think a wild card is still possible.
Probably just the optimism resurfacing after being waterboarded by last Monday’s game. But to answer your question, we know what the Bears have now on the O-line (Omifail in particular). Someone might come in and might not do better, true, but it’s hard to picture them doing a lot worse.
I wonder if Jerry is familiar with the phrase:

I’d say it seems pretty applicable in this situation

injuries have pretty much killed us so far
Our line is completely different with carimi at tackle and Louis at guard. With that being said our problem has been at tackle. The middle of the line has been solid. Now if its the lack of Angelo getting depth on the line is the rallying point I’m with you. Omi should have been gone never to see the field as a bear again. And I have to give Louis credit for doing a much better job playing out of position than omi could have dreamed of.
