#55's Trade Value?

What is it?

In a perfect world I would love to keep Briggs, former Wildcat (go cats) great player and lover of comic books............. But if we could get a 1st and a 2nd rounder for him... from a bad team, making the picks even more valuable...

Just an idea. Much respek for the 55.

I think he's worth a 2nd

I could definetly see a team like Philidelphia giving up a 2nd for him

For a 1st or 2nd I would let him go

It’s too bad though we don’t know what we got yet with J.T. Thomas. Kinda makes this decision more difficult.

No way he's worth a 1st AND a 2nd

maybe a second. Or a low round 1st. But that’s a big IF.

The most I could see is a 2nd, and realistically i see a 3rd

That's what I was thinking too

There is also the possibility of someone giving more later round picks, but I’d much rather have one 2nd/3rd round pick, than two or three 4th/5th/6th rounders.

Agreed

Plus, there are some teams in desperate need of linebacker help, and I could see one of them giving a 2nd.

Philidelphia makes a lot of sense to me. They got a lot of talent and just need a couple pieces.

I'd prefer to not trade him to a team we play later in the season ....

I think this was more focused on an offseason trade

No, pre draft.

We gotta have time to sign a replacement during FA

No.

Lance is a system 4-3 cover 2 linebacker. Teams are converting to 3-4 these days.
Olsen is a big, sure handed TE who fits into most NFL offenses.
Lance is 30 years old
Olsen is well under 30
Lance has probably 4 or 5 more years
Olsen has 10
Olsen is a former first round pick, who believe it or not, has actually lived up to his draft status
Olsen is worth the 3rd (IMO He was worth well more than a 3rd.) Lance is worth a 2nd at the most.

One big thing you left out ....

…. Olsen has never played to his potential or been looked apon by his peers as one of the best Lance has .

Lance has already played to his potential and is now on a decline

Olsen has yet to reach his potential

He'll never reach that potential . Lance is good enough to ....

…. start for most teams .

I for one don't see this extra value. Olsen was worth a low 4th rounder max and he hasn't been a world beater this year either.

Teams actually appear to be converting back to the 4-3, look at the Patriots as an example. The league moving to a 3-4 is overblown.

2nd at best.

He’s an OLB that doesn’t get sacks. He has to go to a 4-3 team that has a need for a weakside OLB

Trade him for a 1st or a 2nd

To me for some teams he could be at least be worth one 1st round pick

Hes not worth a second round the way hes playing this yr

You guys i dont want drafft pics cause angelo will mess it up the draft again..I wanna trade for players we can use now.

by tazz34 on Oct 16, 2011 1:30 AM CDT reply actions

Why?

Its clear that this team is more than a couple pieces away from being legit contenders, and many of the impact players we do have are on the tail end of their career. Nobody is going to trade a budding young start for a 30 year old linebacker who’s mad about his contract. If we were to get a player in exchange for him it would most likely be another over 30 guy on the downside of his career.

Secondly, if you want real changes in the front office, more specifically Jerry gone, why would you want a bunch of win now guys? All that’s gonna do is get the team a 9 win season or two. This is a problem in two ways, because it simply prolongs the inevitable meltdown once Urlacher, Peanut, Peppers etc. start to retire. It also opens the door to the possibility of Jerry getting a contract extension.

Thirdly, if we really want to win a championship we need to get young. If there’s one thing to learn from the Pats, Steelers and Packers its that you build a team with youth through successful drafting. Plus, in regards to Jerry, if you give the blind squirrel enough opportunities he’s bound hit paydirt eventually….. right?…..(crickets chirping)

wow. Scary thought

I like the Jeff Fischer for front office idea.

How about a straight up trade of Lance for V-Jack. It would fulfill needs for both teams and get those players out of bad situations.
