Martz, Lovie, and the enigma that is the Bears
Does Lovie actually run this team? or only part of it? Why after so many years on the sidelines, does Lovie not have a reliable system for ushering in calls yet? Play calling? Has the strategy of "when you find something that works- you keep doing it until they stop it" been considered lately? The Bears should have run the Bucs right out of Wembly by the 3rd quarter. But we come out passing...? What about taking some time off the clock at the end of games? The Bucs couldn't contain Forte...and we wouldn't have needed DJ to make an interception at the end- as time would have run out. How much do we hear about having to play smarter? How about we start by coaching smarter.
Speaking of Forte, Should the Bears "pay the man?" Of course, and they will. They are under no rush to do so and why should they be? He can't walk, so what's the rush? Who else would get the franchise tag? Matt should do what he is doing- concentrating on football. Lance Briggs? Well, Lance needs to shut up. I wouldn't say Lance is a more effective Linebacker today than he was on the day he signed his contract, he wasn't forced to do that. The terms of the contract were written above where he signed. He isn't even in a contract year. The fact that comparable LB are making more money today...both he and his agent should have considered that. Lance is a very good LB, but he is not the play maker Urlacher is.
Devin Hester is the greatest returner in the history of the NFL, but despite some flashes, he is not a good wide receiver. I want Devin to do well, but he seems rather mortal on offense. The Bears should take a flyer on TO. I can't believe I said it myself, but when that dude is motivated he has proven to be dangerous. He has a big personality, but what the hell. He can't be a bigger disappointment than Roy Williams.

TO?!?!?!
Any chance that your post would be taken seriously went right out the window with that one.

Really???
TO, come on now. The Bears have enough problems to deal with right now. The last thing they need is TO. I understand he is good and he is better than Roy Williams, but you never know what you are going to get with him.
LOL you have got to be of some relation to Hub

The biggest problem with bringing TO in, IMO is:
he is a pain. With a locker room already containing a LB that isn’t happy, a RB that wants paid, potentially a team wondering why Kruetz wasn’t retained and wondering why Harris was cut mid-season, do we really want TO being the straw that stirs this particular cocktail? No thanks.

You actually think anyone in the locker room wonders about Kreutz any more?

At this point, no.
The point is this: the locker room is probably already a little frustrated with how management has handled certain personnel decisions (Kruetz, Forte, Harris). Adding someone that is likely as combustable as TO wouldn’t be a good idea.

Let it go with the Kreutz silliness
Keeping him would have been a huge mistake. Garza is better at this point

For Ditka's sake!
At least READ what I wrote before responding, guys! All of those things together, in one season/off-season have the potential to screw with a locker room. We all know NOW (and some knew then!) that letting Kruetz leave was a good thing.
The point I was making was simple: managment’s handling of various personnel decisions has been dubious at best and has the potential to piss a lot of people off in the locker room.
All of this was in the context of bringing in TO. To would take any potential fissure in the locker room (no matter how small) and make it into a canyon. We don’t need that. The team has gotten over Olin, they’ve probably gotten over Harris already. Briggs is playing extremely well and Forte is a legit MVP candidate.

We cdid read what you posted, and some of it makes little sense
no one is upset about how the front office handled the Kreutz situation … it is a lame example … let it go.

But, has anyone considered....
that Kruetz ‘s actions were because he missed the Bears??? Maybe he wasn’t such a bad apple after all, he was just overridden with sadness, there was a void inside, that couldn’t be filled….(LOL)
Oh stop with the Kruetz crap
Garza didn’t get voted by his peers to be a team captain for nothing.

At first, I was upset, but after thinking about it, they did the right thing (even before he walked away from NO).
How many players expressed disappointment that Olin wasn’t brought back? IIRC, there were quite a few. Have they all moved forward? I would hope so, Garza has done pretty well as the starting C.
See my above reply to see what my point was. There are some potential cracks in the locker room and we don’t need TO going in and making them bigger.

There's no crack in the locker room.
Kruetz has been fully replaced by Garza. It’s obvious because of the C he wears on his jersey

I didn't say definitively that there were.
There are some potential cracks
Potential. Not absolutely. Meaning we don’t KNOW for certain what goes on in the locker room or in the minds of the players. Unless you have inside information, that is.
Captaincy has nothing to do with it, by the way. Garza has been with the team for a long time, he’s earned the C on his chest.

I'm pretty sure if there was crack in the lockeroom there would be narcs up the yin yang

TO would be a great addition to the Bears
As a greeter or usher. He can be outgoing and friendly with enough motivation.
Or maybe second string mascot. Something like the way dancing Homer subbed in for the Capital City Goofball might fit T.O. perfectly.
