only fair since they helped get him fired.

Who Chris? He got himself fired with the injuries and then being blasted by the opposing teams WRs.
He fired himself without their help.
"The Cubbie Bears are experiencing a 'Bull' market, so they are not Hawking anything because they are in the Black." Go Cubs, Bears, Bulls and 'Hawks.
a light hearted attempt at levity
We always liked Chris better than Lovie, otherwise why would they have traded him in the first place?
They brought him back because other wise it was going to be what? a rookie and D.Manning?
They never really considered keeping him around any longer than necessary.
the two third round draft picks are outplaying him and he maybe a little better than what is on the bench but he is less useful.

Do they want him
for his ability, which has been shown to be diminished as of late, or for his knowledge of our defensive formations?
The Lions need secondary help, they just got it, and they’ll try to get every little tidbit of info out of Harris to they can try to beat us here.

Some of our safety backups went down with injury this year.
Is Harris going to be happy as a backup? I’m not that well versed on Harris, but from the few articles I’ve read I’m leaning towards no he won’t. Also, did he play special teams at all? I didn’t think he did, but I’m really not sure.
It's turkey, Lions and Macy's. Any other combination is just ludicrous.

What kind of defense do they run in Detroit?
Harris is not a cover-2 safety anymore, but he can probably still get it done down in the box & covering the occasional TE.
Pretty sure
they dont run the cover 2….IIRC only teams that still use cover 2 are Bears with the vikings, nyg, and colts running a form of cover 2…..

Not mutually exclusive to Cover-2
Wide 9 is a defensive line setup.
Cover 2 is a secondary look.
You can run both in the same defense.

Sorta shocked at this since I figured Merriweather was more useless and we need someone that can at least do SOMETHING if Major or Conte get hurt, but oh well.
I can just see Harris doing better on the Lions similar to how Muhsin played well for CAR after he left us or Thomas Jones on the Jets, or Bobby Engram or Cedric Bumsen.

We traded him. To the Jets.
It was TJ and the #63 pick for the #37 pick in the 2007 draft.
The Bears then swapped that pick for the #62, 93, and 167 picks, and the Chargers’ 2008 third round pick. The 62 turned into Dan Bazuin. The 93 turned into Garrett Wolfe. The 167 turned into Kevin Payne. The 2008 Third Rounder turned into Marcus Harrison. None of those players is currently in the NFL (to my knowledge).

So in summary, for Thomas Jones we got...
A serviceable special-teamer, a backup safety, an oft-out-of-shape and flash-in-the-pan defensive tackle, and a guy that never played a snap.
None of those players has seen NFL action since leaving the Bears.
