Quarterbacks are taking advantage of breakdowns in the Bears zone defense, and the biggest problem could be missing the injured Chris Harris. The Bears need the veteran safety patrolling the secondary.

Nice article

As much as I like the Hitman, I believe the D is missing DMS even more so. He was rated as the second best safety by PFF last season; he only gave up one TD pass all year.

While I can see the Bears trying to sign Harris after the year, I can almost guarantee they’ll low ball him cause he’s older and fairly injury-prone.

I believe the answer is to invest a 1st or 2nd rounder in the draft on FS.

We need Hitman to return

Brandon Meriweather can’t do it all on his own anymore.

Jay Cutler is our QB, and I for one am proud of that

Well, yeah.

Meriweather was actually good up until Carolina. That’s where the wheels fell off.

I mean he screwed up majorly on a few plays

But still made some nice plays in particular the red zone. I really feel his play is more of a result in his teamate not knowing what they are doing that compells him to free-lance.

Lets see what happens when Chris Harris finally returns…

Tough to determine

cause based on what Pat fans said, that’s his MO. He tries to go for the big hit, and his free-lancing is just a by-product of that.

I suppose we’ll know for sure after a few more games.

I wish he was resigned too

After finally getting him to settle into a position they let him walk… dumb.

Hello???

That was the primary reason Meriweather was released from New England dispite the fact of past pro-bowl invites, … he refused to adhere to the Defensive Scheme and insisted on Freelancing on his own.
Surprise, Surprise.
I agree with all the above posts.
We desperately need Harris back there to direct traffic!!!

Missing the Point

Sure Harris is better then recent members of the Bear secondary, but he is not elite and his absence should not be used to justify poor defense and lack of depth in the secondary

Players get injured in football, Harris being injured happens, but the important thing to be taken away from this is just how little depth/talent we have in the secondary. To put it another way, “Chicago Bears Defense is Missing Chris Harris” is true, but not as prescient or alarming as “Craig Steltz, Possible Bears Starter”

They really should have kept Manning around

Does Chris Harris still post around here?

Or was that just CatScratchReader? I remember him doing that a while back.

Thats pretty sweet.

I live in Carolina, folks were pretty upset to see him go. Still don’t really understand that move.

We didn't understand it

when the Bears traded him to you in the first place. We love having him back, but with him missing the last few games, we’re in sad shape.

So... any news on when Hitman is set to return?

May the Oline hold, May Cutler not get sacked into oblivion, may Urlacher break some legs, and may they come to their senses and pay Forte. AMEN.
