New Excerpt from Pearlman's Payton biography
Deadspin has a new excerpt of the Payton biography. Centered around his attitude after SB XX. I found it interesting thought some of you might too.

this was spoken about many times IIRC and Ditka has even said he was caught up
in the moment and the hype of the Fridge.
I do find it interesteing that Steve McMichael has come out and asked why teammates such as Suhey were not contacted in the writing of this book when the author claims to have spoken to close to 700 people about Payton.
"It’s like (pro) wrestling fans," McMichael explained. "I made big money because they thought: ‘Is that real?’ No, the National Enquirer is not real and neither is this book. Whoever wrote this thing … and I don’t even know who this guy is. I’ve been around Walter his whole life. Never met this guy (Pearlman). So who is this guy? He interviewed 700 people? You know, interviewing Matt Suhey and Roland Harper- the guys who were closest to him (would have been better). What they had to say about what he did or what they saw … there’s the truth. Not a bunch of disgruntled employees or whoever he interviewed who wanted to throw some dirt on Walter…and the guy isn’t even alive to defend himself. Well, I can."
Chronologically inept since 2060
Q: Why did Chuck Norris cross the road?
A: Ditka
Ditka's mustache can kill two stones with one bird
It is better to spend money like there's no tomorrow than to spend tonight like there's no money! - Irish toast.
Good point, but to play Devil's Advocate,
there could have been many people who declined to comment based on the nature of the questions being asked.
Pearlman's been a very good reporter for a long time
the way the Bears community has responded to this has been a little disheartening. Yes, it is a little dismaying to learn that Payton was so flawed, but not surprising.
And the idea that you can’t report on things just because someone is dead and “not able to defend themselves” is very disturbing and patently false.
Nobody who ever gave his best regretted it. -George Halas
it may be a little disturbing and patently false to think you can't report on things just because someone is dead...
but you have to admit, it is a little chickenshit.
