$17,500 in fines so far from Lions-Bears
That number's going up. I find it strange that Earl's shoes are worth more to the league than KVB's hit...

That's because Bennett's was a repeat offense that he just got fined for last week.
Next week it would be $15,000 and $20,000 after that. I also heard that at some point they can just pull him from the game if he refuses to adhere to the uniform code.
Please find Jay Cutler some help...
Still
shoes worth more than a late hit…when the league is so worried about player safety…

Those shoes must be
really obnoxiously blinding and damaging to player eyesight.

So was it the wind that affected the Lions' performance
Or was it Bennett’s cleats?
Jay Cutler is our QB, and I for one am proud of that

I heard the tail end of a 670 interview with some Bear
who said that Earl Bennett had a huge shoe collection. I guess if you got ’em, flaunt ’em, right? Now if only Roger Goddell respected that…

I want to see some platinum shoes.
Or Pearl ones.
Earl the Pearl deserves them.

I want to see the entire offense, minus Earl, play the SD game with orange cleats.

False
There are shoe mandates. I think it was Schweickert who listed them out one day.

Yep. I've gotten so familiar with shoes the past few days, I should be a woman.
(BA DUM tss!)
They have to have black or white as the dominant color, and that’s actually sent to the league before the season as a team decision.

Goodell needs one of those orange shoes shoved where the sun don't shine.

Who takes up the challenge?
Can someone set up a paypal site where each fan can donate $1.00 towards the fine on the shoes and in case there are any other fines in the pipeline?

Moore's is justified.
That’s one he should pay. As well as anybody else involved with that fight or any other physical confrontations throughout that game.
But Bennett’s one is just plain silly. I mean, c’mon! It’s his bleeding SHOES!!! It’s not his sweater or pants. It’s his SHOES!!! The NBA doesn’t have this kind of rule on shoes. The NHL doesn’t have this kind of rule on skates (that I know about). MLB doesn’t have this kind of rule on cleats (that I know about).
NFL = No Fun League.
I think all three do, actually.
Now FIFA on the other hand I think actually lets players wear neon green shoes.

NBA allows different shoes simply because Nike and Adidas are the primary sponsors of the league
MLB does have a rule I remember, but no one cares about MLB anymore.
NHL not sure about, but I don’t remember anyone wearing different from team skates. Skates are rather specialized anyway.

I would like to see the Bears players
spray paint their feet orange and screw the cleats directly into the bottoms of their feet just to show the NFL how badass they really are.

And this is why the Lions wont stop their BS
Because you would be fined for shoes more than cheap shots….Fairley is perfect over there
We Are Guardian Force...READ IT!...BAM!!!
You mean Suh? Suh's cheap shot on Cutler...
could have easily been a personal foul 15 yarder. I personally want to start seeing him get tossed for games as he constantly somehow manages to do stupid plays on field.
I would love to see him become as famous for his late QB hits as Roy Williams was for horse collar tackles or the Leon Lett clothesline.

Fairley also got flagged...
for a roughing the passer in the end zone that was pretty flagrantly designed to hurt Jay Cutler. His indignant attitude afterward should have garnered him a warning if not a fine.

Goodell is a control freak with who can't stand to see his beloved policies be bent in the slightest
and it seems to me that he’s willing to enforce them with all the rigidity of someone who was personally offended by them.
My question is, how far is he willing to go to enforce a policy on shoes? If the entire team wears Orange shoes, would he fine the entire team? If so, and they chose not to pay it, would he go to the management and try to have them get the team in line? How far is Goodell willing to go on these matters? The NFL makes policy up over night. The players shouldn’t wait 10 years for a contract negotiation to start fighting that tremendous asshole of a man. Fight at low level, like with shoes, as they’re so innocuous and easy to rally the public around.
They have some similarities. David Stern is more of a cheater, but also a less effective hatchet man for the owners.
Basketball has a much better revenue divide between players and owners currently (though we’ll see what this lockout brings.) David Stern is also, much like Goodell, a tremendous asshole.
What symbol would you use and where?
= < >
David Stern, Roger Goodell, Bud Selig

Considering Selig let a luser buy one of the most storied franchises in the sport....
Goodell > Stern + Selig.
Stern is an idiot for not making the union decertify BEFORE the season to just finish the whole damn business BEFORE games get canceled.
Selig is the village idiot of the trio for his stance on instant replay and the fact he has to take an owner to COURT to get a team back.
Cacti are prickly.
by crackedcactus on Nov 17, 2011 2:18 PM CST up reply actions
Selig is also in favor of interleague play and adding another wildcard play-in which ruins the merit based quality of baseball.
As such, I’d still say that (given that the alligator eats the bigger asshole) Stern>Selig>Goodell, though it’s all pretty close. Goodell, though probably the biggest wad on a personal level has avoided any integrity issues in the sport of football, while Selig presided over steroids (as well as the aforementioned issues) and Stern presides over an NBA with big time questions to the integrity of the sport, especially in terms of referees (think every Lebron travel.) Also, he ensured that the Knicks got Patrick Ewing in one of the most transparent frauds in all of sports history. Really it’s just the fear of not trusting the NBA that makes him awful for the sport.
Correction: Earl's shoes are MORE DANGEROUS to the league than KVB's hit...
Isn’t that why they levy the fines and enforce the rules even after the games – to protect the image of the league?
So the NFL is communicating to the teams, the coaches, the players and their union, and the fans, that Earl Bennett wearing orange shoes is more dangerous to the image of the league than KVB’s late hit on Matt Forte.
And that’s a big reason why teams like Detroit, players like Suh, and coaches like Schwantz continue to ignore and openly flaunt the rules, play dirty, and act like petulant, irresponsible teenagers when they are questioned about it – because you (the NFL) penalize dress code violations more than dangerous and illegal late hits, and on star players, to boot.
Just a thought.

Goodell's office...
where we think orange colored cleets are more of a threat to the league than dirty, late hits.
"If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader" - John Quincy Adams
Meh. There are rules, agreed upon by the players and the league.
Most fines are of a set amount, while a few are assessed subjectively. As far as dress code, the players agreed to it. If they choose to break it, the league will enforce it.
What signature?
I find it funny that Marshawn Lynch
Never got fined for wearing those neon green shoes…He should be fined for wearing green neon
We Are Guardian Force...READ IT!...BAM!!!
Probably the explanation there was that the primary was still black, and the neon was the highlight.
So if Earl were to wear shoes exactly like those, but in orange, he’d be fine.
