Chicago Bears Caleb Hanie, a tale of two halves.
His numbers after the half were 11-21, for 182 yards and 1 TD, including a 107.4 QB rating in the 4th quarter.

Hopefully he was simply shaking the rust off in that first half
and the 4th quarter numbers are indicative of what he can do with a few games under his belt. Guy eliminates the errors and he will be on his way, the Chiefs are a good team for his week 2 game, our defense should have no problems bottling up Palko so Hanie probably wont have to play from behind which is always a plus for young QBs.

two of his 3 picks led to 6 Oak pts
he’ll play better and smarter at home, and with another week of practice with all the reps

Had to listen to the game from my car radio while driving long distance
even Joniak and Thayer were saying Hanie looked nervous in the first half. The hope is he’s shaken his jitters off and he’ll start to get confident with the offense and his own abilities. He’ll only get better from here on out.

After almost a week to digest this
I have to say that overall I was impressed with Hanie. Yes the 1st half was awful but he did face one of the best front 4s in the NFL and they brought the house almost every play. Honestly, if it wasn’t for that INT before the half, we’d all be talking about how Hanie after a rough start and bad field position, settled down and played big in a win in Oakland. I think he’s going to be just fine.
Hey Rose. I don't see the appeal!
That's an mean thing to say about Hanie
Hanie is light years ahead of Tomczak, Tomczak was plain awful from beginning to end.

Tomczak was a 15 year vet with 73 career starts
he was a serviceable journeyman that won more games than he lost

this
Tomczak was good. Nothing more than good though. He’s like a Kerry Collins or Hasselbeck. He can come in and run the offense, but don’t expect him to win a shootout against Brees

Absolutely not
Orton is more of a Dilfer. Can only win if he has every necessarily tool around him and a HoF defense

I liked this article a lot.
It’s great to see a voice of reason amid a rough week. I was expecting a few picks but what impressed me was that Hanie had two TDs, an awesome one to Knox and Kellen Davis’ followed an 81 yard passing play to Knox. I think that might be our longest passing play of the season.
