I think I can almost stand the Bears losing after this

That is one of the funniest things I have ever read. To have actually read those words attributed to a real life NFL wr is absolutely hilarious. Some good came of the game at least, I’ll be laughing at that one for weeks.

If all he sees is big brown things how the hell does he ever catch a single Cutler fastball?

by weepingbear on Dec 6, 2011 8:35 PM CST reply actions

Well that's why according to him Hanie's throws are "softer" and thus "more catchable" (actual quote) than Cutler's

Yet he sure doesn’t seem to be doing any better, does he? Because now he’s regressed to the point of referring to a damn football as a “big brown thing”.

This boggles the mind >:(

Exactly!

At the risk of both beating a dead horse and sounding like a meatball….. Shouldn’t the REW experiment be something like Exhibit D or E in the case against Mike Martz? And that not including other such favorites as The Manatee and Grandpa Collins.

by Joeb'n777 on Dec 6, 2011 9:09 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

After Martz pulled his head out following the Detroit debacle,

things were going pretty darn well. Cutler was putting a good season together and the Bears were 7-3 before Thumbgate.

There’s no defending the Manatee or Collins (or Pace, for that matter). But I really doubt that it’s in Cutler’s or the Bears’ best interest to go to yet another offensive system next year.

by oripunk3485 on Dec 7, 2011 1:19 PM CST up reply actions

that is a pretty funny quote

but how exactly is it any worse for Roy to drop a pass as compared to Johnny Knox or Devin Hester, or Dan Sanzenbacher, or Kellen Davis.

Is Roy a special case because everyone wanted Jerry to go out and spend money like Andy Reid and all he came back with was Roy Williams?

What really happened? They dropped R.Davis and D. Aromashadu and picked up R. Williams and S. Hurd.
a small upgrade and everyone wanted them to spend big money on a guy who is playing like crap for another team this year.

55 offensive plays and this is the one that breaks the camel’s back?

It's worse because the big FA WR pickup of the offseason...

That was supposed to catch 80 passes ended up being the passing games biggest underperformer. Knox and Hester both have more yards while Sanz, Davis and Knox all have more TD’s.

by Joeb'n777 on Dec 6, 2011 11:25 PM CST via mobile up reply actions

and Williams has more yards than Bennett does that make him better than Bennett?

He also has the highest catch percentage on the team (thanks to Hanie) even with the drops. You can say that means nothing or you can say that you have a better chance of completing a pass to Williams than any of our other WR’s.

you can see anything you want long as you put on the right shade of H8 glasses.

Its worse because it seems that Roy drops

huge passes, like 40 yarders, long 3rd downs, or TD’s, magnifying them, rather than Sanzi dropping a 3 yard pass on 1st and 10

but, but, but it's Roy it has to be wrong! right?

everybody jump on the H8 wagon

we have never seen Hester run that route and it end up an INT oh no that never happened.

how many slants have we seen Knox run that ended up pick 6’s, none right.

If we only had Olsen back so we can watch him not make that catch either!

thats the rub

It seems worse when Roy does it because no one ever cuts him any slack.
Knox gets a lot of yards so what if he drops a few passes
Hester is a HOF return guy so it doesn’t matter that he can’t find another position to play at the NFL level.
Sansenbacher is the UDFA darling of training camp and has 3TD’s so it doesn’t matter he has as many drops as the rest of them put together.

these guys suck with Cutler throwing to them much less Hanie is it right to pour all the H8 on Roy when he is just more of the same. When JA signed Roy he didn’t make the team worse than it was in 2010.

As a run blocking WR I love Roy

as a pass catching option on 1st or 2nd down I love Roy…
but see the pass going to him on third down reminds me of when Grossman used to chuck it deep….you had a feeling of regret in the pit of your stomach lol

lets follow the chain of event's

in 1982 the circus is rumbling through Odessa Tx. and a young juggles gives birth to a healthy smiling baby boy she names Roy. Knowing that Ronald Wilson Regan (666) is the anti-christ she allows a local family to adopt Roy hoping he might find some joy before the end of the world.

Roy indeed had a wonderful life until he was drafted by the Detroit Lions and actually comes face to face with the actual Anti-Crist Mike Martz and he has been living the nightmare ever since.

What do we have to think as fans?

Almost every single person here knew we needed an upgrade at the WR position but we all knew as well the answer was not Roy Williams.

The front office has to know that Roy Williams is shit, there is little to no evidence to make them think otherwise. Do we have to find solace in the idea that maybe they just thought it would keep fans content on the WR situation?

Did you guys hear about the new Lebron James Iphone?
You have to keep it on vibrate because it has no rings.

by Rudey on Dec 6, 2011 10:30 PM CST reply actions

Is this an open thread?

Jerry had no intention of picking up a big time #1WR this year with no offseason and F/A’s reporting late to training camp and Martz declining to sign an extension.

Roy was signed cheap to hold down a spot vacated by Devin Aromashadu and he is better than Devin. A one year deal leaving Jerry all of his options open for the up coming off season. The Bears were 11-5 last year and without Cutler and Forte going down were still a 11-5 team this year.

Just so full of excuses

Now that he can’t blame it on Cutler’s “bullet throws” (v Hanie’s “softer” and “more catchable” throws), he’s resorted to blaming the “big brown thing” for daring to fly at his face. DUDE, it’s FOOTBALL! That big brown thing is A FOOTBALL! Introduce yourself, get to know it, why don’t ya? Because you’re paid to CATCH the damn thing!!!
