VJAX or Marshall?
Id like to do a follow up to "Wide Receivers The Bears Should Acquire" which was originally a follow up to "Free Agents The Bears Should Acquire this Off-Season". (Yes, they aren't the original title's for everyone that has read them before this article.) Of course I asked in a poll which was on "Wide Receiver's The Bears Should Acquire". The Receivers were: Vincent Jackson, Dwayne Bowe, Brandon Marshall, & DeSean Jackson. The top two receivers that were chosen were Vincent Jackson with over 50% and Brandon Marshall with 20%. Of course I wasn't totally serious about the Brandon Marshall trade because Jerry Angelo would never go for it. But of course since everyone hates Dwayne Bowe's "Alligator Arms" and DeSean Jackson's lack of being liked, Brandon Marshall was the only one left(Except for the "Other WR" choice). So here is the more in depth reason why Vincent Jackson should be signed and also Why and How Brandon Marshall should be traded to the Bears.
Vincent Jackson: Well Jackson was the #1 pick and the #1 skill that a few people said he lacked was speed. I don't really see a problem with his speed. He is a good WR and even this year he is doing great. I do think the Bears would succeed with the combination of Vincent Jackson, Earl Bennett, Devin Hester, & "Great" Dane Sanzenbacher. With Jay Cutler at helm and with the combination of the speediness of Hester, the route running and hands of Bennett & "Great" Dane, & the everything of Jackson we will have a top 15 Offense next season. Of course there is still the scariness of the O-Line which was looking pretty good last off-season with the Draft of Gabe Carimi but like always the O-line started to lose there starting Linemen due to injuries. With a Line like that I am not totally sold on Vincent Jackson coming to Chicago. Vincent Jackson will most likely not sign with the Bears mostly because the O-line cannot hold together a pocket for longer then 4 seconds. Vincent Jackson will want to go to a Offense that won't always have a QB always under pressure. Unless we sign a big name Offensive Lineman as soon as we hit Free agency to prove to Jackson we will have more throwing time we will not be able to acquire him.
Brandon Marshall: I was hoping that other people would of seen that DeSean Jackson's problem were all because of the Eagles but apparently not. Only 13 out of 124 people agreed with me that Jackson should play for us. But now im here stuck wondering why people chose Marshall. Marshall has had anger problems and once said that he doesn't care if he is thrown out of the game for being over enthused. But I am not going to shoot down the idea of him coming to Chicago. The trade that I had put up was trading Lance Briggs, Johnny Knox, & a couple or few draft picks for Brandon Marshall, Koa Misi, & Nate Garner. Nobody actually commented about this trade but I do love the trade because Briggs is again complaining about his contract and Misi is a young promising Linebacker. This is the best trade the Bears could make thats realistic. So if anyone can think of a trade that includes Brandon Marshall and Lance Briggs be my guest and post it in my comments down low or tweet it to me. (Also of course other WR trades are very welcomed)

I'd rather we grab VJax.
We won’t have to give anything up and I’ve seen him drop the ball a lot less in the end zone than Marshall has. In addition, VJax doesn’t have a personality disorder and a stabbity girlfriend, we don’t need any further distractions on offense.

Trading Briggs will never happen with Lovie at the helm
I have noticed one thing about your posts, you are aware that our offense lacks top tier personnel. I think your right but I dont think Bears management agrees with you. We got to 9-3 with the current group and they will use that as the excuse to defend their personnel decisions.
Also trading one of the cornerstones of the defense will never happen on a Lovie Smith team. Remember the Bears are a defense first team, always have been that I can remember.
As far as Marshall, people like him because of his history with JC in Denver however he isnt a “high character” guy and the Bears never sign those types. I hear that is a directive from Virginia herself as she wants nothing to do with these players with off the field issues.
Anyway great enthusiasm for improving the team, you just need to convince JA and Lovie of your many master plans.

Neither
V-Jax is extremely pricey and has a tendency of getting dinged up.
I don’t even have to get into why I don’t want Marshall. He has one of the worst attitudes of any player I’ve seen and quite frankly I can’t stand the thought of rooting for him no matter how great of stats he puts up.

He's been healthy all this year though
The price-tag will indeed be high, but what comes with it is a rare opportunity to instantly boost the receiving corps.

This is true
I guess I’m not opposed to it, just have a hard time seeing it as realistic given the money he will want and the money Forte will want etc. I wouldn’t mind being proven wrong though.

Matt Forte's value, ironically, has gone down
His TD production for this year is low, and this will be the first season he doesn’t play in all 16 games. It’s really cruel and sad how much an injury of any caliber can drop the value of a contract. So at this point the initial contract offered to Forte from the Bears is fair.
And more money will be opened up later after moves are made. REW is gone as well as potentially Brandon Meriweather. More money will be freed up.

People have a problem with Vincent Jackson's speed?
Thats just LOL material, considering how badly he burned Tillman as well as a friendly reminder that not only is he 6’5" tall, last I checked his 40 time during the combine was around the low 4.4 range. Speed is certainly not an issue. Vincent Jackson, at this point, would be a much better aquisition than Brandon Marshall. Better hands, better route running, better attitude, less likely to get into (severe) trouble, better production, etc.
I was on the Brandon Marshall bandwagon a year ago, but after watching him play for the Dolphins a few times since I’m stuck in Florida, he is no where near as good of a receiver as he used to be. He always had a case of the drops, and this year his case of the drops has become far worse, especially with easy TDs. Granted, Matt Moore is no Jay Cutler, but Matt Moore himself has been playing well as of late. And Brandon Marshall has a rather well published record. Oh, and for those wondering about whether he can return to dominance when reunited with Jay Cutler, we’ve already tried that with Roy Williams when reunited with Mike Martz as his OC, and just how well has that turned out for us? Its always a possibility, but I somehow doubt it will happen.
Summarized; Vincent Jackson, hands down.

I vote Ditka
VJ is going to be too expensive
BM for LB nope
There are several very good WR’s that are going to be F/A’s lets consider all the options before spending all our money or trading a star defender we have no replacement for.

How about we draft some young , talented guys at the position to .....
…… go with Hester , Bennett & Knox instead of throwing all our money out to free agents / trades . Blackmon , Floyd & others will be coming out this year and I’ll bet at least one of the top 5 WR’s will fall to us .

I never want to see Hester line up as a WR again.
We really need two guys a #1 and #2 ahead of Bennett and Knox Hester can be #5

I think Bennett can be a good 2 & Knox a good 3 ....

Cuz Hester sucks balls at the WR position.
Bennett will never be better than a possession #2. Knox will never be better than a deep threat #3. We have about a year, maybe two, before our defense becomes terrible again. Our window is NEXT YEAR. While I appreciate trying to get a WR through the draft, and I’d like to see that happen, we also need to get a VJax type of player who can immediately step in and turn this WR corps around. It’s currently a tie between our OL and our WRs as to which position group is the worst on the team. And the OL is only really on there b/c our two best players there are IR’d.
We could had Marshall for a second rounder and that fool Angelo didn't go for it.
Clearly, they’re not going to fire Angelo so that’s not going to happen. I’d take either guy though – but we should have done that last year. If we did, GB likely aren’t in the playoffs and we’re in the Superbowl. But who cares? Angelo doesn’t.
VJax lit us up for like 200 yards
Marshall is more physical and faster
Either would be fine

Agreed. I’d be VERY happy to have either (or Dwayne Bowe, for that matter) as a Bear.

jackson
not only because of his long ball ability but he knows how to get separation and has good hands. Marshall has too many problems, unless we can get him for really cheap.
Also...
again, great content in your post! very informative and got a good discussion on WRs. But you still have a big problem with grammar. It’s sometimes very difficult to read due to grammar mistakes and run on sentences. Fix that and you’ll be golden! Just a helpful criticism.
Not nearly enough.
There are still a lot of grammar and punctuation mistakes. But you’re getting better.
Don't worry about it bro
Your articles are outstanding, at the least.

No, He's serious.
He wants the constructive criticism. I directed him here because this is about the best place on the net to write fanposts and get real constructive criticism from a good group of fans who actually will help him and not act like asshats about it. This is by far the most hospitable Bears site on the net and easily the best place for a young writer to hone his skills without being treated like an idiot because he commits grammar fouls.
Understand that I pointed him this way because he contacted me about writing for the site I write for. He sent me some of his work in an email and I directed him here. Here, he’ll get support from a good fanbase who will help him. There, they would have torn him to shreds just to be dicks and would have likely discouraged any future writing.
Here, e’ll be encouraged and helped. And he has some interesting things to say.
He’s asking for that criticism. Let him have it and learn from it.

Yes Sir.
But I have never heard of the term “Asshats”. hahaha
I have hopefully improved my writing skills since I’ve started posting here. I do feel more confident since I’ve started writing here. I welcome constructive criticism because without it how will I improve? Also thanks Tim. You have helped me a lot and also a lot of the guys on this website have helped me a lot. I hope everyone continues to read and let me know what they think of my posts. (I just posted a new one by the way)
Seeing a lot of improvement from your first post on.
And that’s the whole point. Post often. The more you do it, the better you’ll get. And keep listening. These guys won’t steer you wrong.

Bottom line we need a Wr so we need to get 1 why argue aboutt either of these 2
Theres gonna be about 7 good WRs out there lets hope we get 1 of them.lol….And 1 good OT we can takecare of the rest in the draft.
Marques Colston or Brandon Lloyd
Both are pending free agents, and both fit the type the Bears need (tall, fast, large catch radius). In order, I would go V-Jax, Colston, Lloyd, Marshall. I would be happy to see any of them. All of these guys are #1 WR. They run routes well, they have the physical ability to out-run, out-leap, and deek/cut on DB’s.
