Criticism of Jay Cutler: Enough of this nonsense!!
As many of us are already aware, Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler has undergone very intense criticism following the Bears disappointing 21-14 loss to arch-rival Green Bay in the NFC title game. Despite a commendable effort by third string QB Caleb Hanie to rally the Bears, they fell short in their quest for a Super Bowl appearance. Because Cutler sat out the remainder of the second half due to injury, he received a barrage of criticism and insults from current and ex NFL players as well as fans. Cutler was referred to as being a "quitter", "coward," "soft" along with other defamatory statements- some that were made through Internet social networking sites. Whats interesting is that even after it was revealed that Cutler suffered a tear of the medial collateral ligament, rendering him unable to finish the game, Cutler still was criticized. Not only was it unnecessary , but it was immature, cowardly, hypocritical and really it showed disrespect- being that the ones guilty of it meddled into something that wasn't their concern to begin with. One has to especially consider the source- many of the current NFL players picking on Cutler were players not even worth mentioning because they're mediocre players playing for teams that have done nothing. Now granted, Maurice Jones Drew is a Pro Bowl caliber running back. But where was he when his Jacksonville Jaguars were fighting for a playoff spot? On the sidelines with an injury, correct? Then there's defensive lineman Darnell Dockett of the Arizona Cardinals. Isn't this the same Cardinals team that actually had Super Bowl 43 in the palm of their hand; all they needed was one defensive stop but couldn't even do that?! The same Cardinals team that during the 2010 season didn't have a QB a quarter as good as Cutler?! And then there is Jacksonville's Kirk Morrison and Oakland's Bruce Gradkowski. WHO?!! And lets take for example some ex NFL players. There's Deion "Turf Toe" Sanders who no doubt made some electrifying plays on kickoff and punt returns as well as interceptions during his career. But he couldn't hit or tackle worth a crap and couldn't take a hit, so it took much gall on Sanders part to even open his mouth. And there's known Cutler critic Trent Dilfer. Granted, Dilfer did win a Super bowl with the Ravens years ago, but if you have a dominant defense and running game,a solid offensive line and special teams along with players who know their roles, even Steve Bartman could have won a Super Bowl ring as the Ravens QB. Trent Dilfer is just another line of first rounders that turned out to be a stiff- mediocre at best! It's true that there have been players that have played on torn ligaments. But to compare Cutler to them is unfair -being that those are different players under a different set of circumstances. San Diego Chargers QB Phillip Rivers did play on a torn ligament in the AFC title game against New England a few seasons ago. But if Rivers didn't have a dependable offensive line [something Cutler doesn't have] that allowed him time in the pocket, would Rivers been confident enough to go out there and risk ending his career? Some of Cutlers critics seem to forget that Cutler wanted to finish the game but he was advised by the Bears medical and coaching staff not to. So is Cutler to blame? Lets remember that prior to the 2010 season, Cutler since becoming a full time NFL starter has started all 16 games except missing the Bears game against Carolina during the 2010 season. He never played in a playoff game even going back to his days as a Denver Bronco under Mike Shanahan. The closest Cutler got to the playoffs was losing the final game of the 2008 season to rival San Diego which would have put them in the post season. Now Jay Cutler has finally reached the postseason in 2010-11 having an opportunity to show that he is a championship caliber QB- his opportunity to show that he belongs with QB's such as Rodgers, Manning, Brady, etc. Does one think that Cutler would quit in a championship game when he was willing to go out and lay it on the line for mediocre teams- teams for most of his career had nothing to play for other than pride? The fact of the matter is that these current players for the most part are motivated by jealousy and envy, that it's other teams on the national stage getting attention and not their team. And instead of criticizing a fellow player, their primary concern should be their own team and making sure they keep a job because they could wind up being told that their services are no longer needed. And the ex players are nothing more than a bunch of has-been's [in the case of Trent Dilfer a never was] who are bitter that the NFL and life has passed them by. It's easy for the average Joe to sit in the armchair and be a Monday morning QB. But if any of us were in Cutler's shoes, what would we have done? Many so called fans have never even played contact sports whether on a organized or unorganized level to begin with! The Packers as much as I dislike them, they were a little better than the Bears that day and they won fair and square and there's nothing that can be done about that! So what if Cutler comes off in ways that might be deemed short and reserved. Let the man be himself! His job is to help win football games and not be the spokesman in Gatorade commercials. Hopefully Jay will take this, work hard in the off season and come out on fire next season. And if it's deemed necessary that he make some adjustments as far as his disposition, then so be it. But for now, this criticism of Cutler is nothing but nonsense!!!

Paragraphs are your friend
Rivers actually came out of the game when he tore his ACL. He ended up coming back the following week in the AFC title game, and played like crap. He played with a brace in order to help stabilize his knee. I’m sure Jay could’ve done the same if the Bears beat the Packers.
MJD is still talking about the incident; he’s a liar and hypocrite for what he said, but a twit for continuing to talk about a non-subject.
Dilfer is just a biased douche, and you can throw in Schlereth as well.

I got into an argument with a Chargers fan
And he insisted that wasn’t true. I told him it was and even linked him to wikipedia and video proof that Rivers left the game. But he stuck to his guns. What does that say about Chargers fans, I ask you…
Vic Koenning is my homeboy.
Thought Rivers
also had a mid week surgery to help repair the leg as well.

I agree about Cutler and paragraphs
But you can’t just hate someone because he disagrees with you. Dilfer and Schlereth are two of the most honest former players out there, even if it bothers your sensitive ideals.
I am a bear of very little brains and big words bother me.
Sure I can
An “analyst” on the most watched sports network should offer more of a diverse thought process. They’re simple-minded fools that can never give credit where it’s due (Cutler). I’m a big critic of Jay’s, but at least I give him props when he has a good game.

I do as well
But this isn’t a guy whose never played the game. I’m against analysts who haven’t played, but I trust former players a lot more.

More then a lot of other analysts
Do I agree with him on everything, no, but that doesn’t make him a douche in my mind.

Same to you
It’s the miracle of opinion. Some people just have experience in those situations and I generally trust those who have been there before more then random people on the internet.

"Honest" Trent Dilfer...
Has spent his entire broadcast career trying to degrade other QBs and pretend he wasn’t the worst QB to ever ride his defense to a SB ring. Calling Dilfer honest is like calling me a svelte 150 pound vegan. It just ain’t true.
I have real issues with a guy who threw 4 TDs to 18 INTs in first year as a starter trying to tell us why another QB is bad. This is a guy who of the 5 teams he played for, only left one with more TDs than INTs, and that was Baltimore, where he had 12 TDs and 11 INTs. He was not good. Yet he wants to criticize other QBs.
Hey, Trent! If you actually knew what made some QBs good and others bad, why didn’t you fix yourself?
Now, I don’t think Trent is a douche because I disagree with him. I think he’s a douche because he’s a douche. And he is a douche who likes to leave out key facts as he criticizes Cutler for leaving due to injury.
Like the fact that He didn’t play in Baltimore with a MCL sprain, tear or any other MCL injury. He played with torn cartilage, an injury I am very familiar with. Completely different animal. And he failed to note that he injured his knee in practice, not in game, so he was able to receive medical attention without having to worry about missing game time. Oh, and he forgot to mention that he was the backup at the time, and that while he was “playing a whole season with a knee injury” he actually didn’t play until 6½ weeks later (Happened midweek between weeks 2 and 3 and he didn’t touch the field until week 9). Funny that “Honest” Trent left all of that out.
And second, that Dilfer missed starting the season opener two years later after spraining his MCL in a preseason game against Indy. Apparently the MCL sprain was enough of a problem for him that he was unable to play in the next 4 games following the injury. In other words, it took 5 weeks for him to be ready to play after a second degree MCL sprain. I wonder if it affected his play, as he then went on to throw 4 TDs and 5 INTs in 6 games. And I wonder why “Honest” Trent didn’t mention any of this, either…….
And my dislike for Dilfer has nothing to do with disagreeing with him over this issue. I have thought he was a complete waste ever since he started spilling his voice out at us through the boob-tube.
You are entitled to your opinion, my friend, and please don’t take this as an attack on you. It’s an attack on Dilfer. You, I like. I just thought that you might want to know a little more about “Honest” Trent Dilfer.

I appreciate your passion, my friend. But I thought he was polite and classy about it. He doesn’t have to agree with my opinion, and I wasn’t trying to force him to. I just wanted to throw my opinion at him and give him something to think about. He still disagreed, but was gracious about it.

Thanks, and people can disagree without arguing
I got your side and tried to present my ideas. Plus the fact we are really talking about a topic that is almost purely opinion anyways, it really doesn’t matter a whole lot.
