That would be great if it happened

however, I have my doubts as to wether or not they’ll be around when we pick

Don't like Sherrod in rd 1

that would be a reach. As bad as our Oline is we need best player available. Rd 2 projection is fine with me.

On to bigger and better things next year!

Sherrod in the 1st isn't a reach....

Some people have him going as high as #22 to the colts

I'll roll up

A lot of Mocks have all 5 top tackles gone before 29

If you go in the bathroom, turn off the lights, and say "Da Coach" 5 times while facing the mirror... Ditka will appear and slap the wussy right out of you.

True

Sherrod needs somepolishing, but has HUGE upside. Not a “high-probable” week 1 starter compared to the top 5 OLs in the draft.

I would rather they go after a DL at that 1st pick, and swing down to get a OL in the 2nd if Pouncey or Caminiti aren’t there (which they more than likely won’t be).

I don't get why people are so hi in Carimi

I would be shocked if he wasn’t a guard in a couple years, I actually would rather see Pouncey moved out to tackle before we drafted Carimi.

I agree about Sherrod needing polish....

but I dislike people comparing him to CWiliams because Sherrod has always been known to be a hard-worker and ever since Williams became a Bear I’ve heard that he doesn’t respond well to criticism and doesn’t work as hard as he can. Plus Sherrod has the physical tools and if he needs to get stronger than he will. Pouncey completely avoided the bench at the combine yet I don’t hear people hating on him because of that. Sherrod or Carimi would be a blessing and I’m not fond of Pouncey but the guy is a hard-worker and will work on his short-comings

I think when any dratee avoids a portion of th workout they hurt there stock, but…

… There are times when taking a certain portion of the combine does nothing more than open up more criticism for you as well.

I think Pouncey’s game day tapes show him being able to get off the line of scrimmage quickly, put hands on defenders, and drive them off the ball. He isn’t overwhelming powerfrul like Carimi, but he has great technique and knows his stuff.

He’s effective!

And the combine is more about athleticism and strength.

I liek Pouncey and have him as my no. 5 top OL in the draft. He’s going to be good in “Patriot Blue” in a year or two. :-(

I don't like

Sherrod. He reminds me a lot of Chris Williams, but not in a good way. I think it’s a big red flag when OTs have low bench press totals. Not just because they might not have the strength for the position, but more because it makes me quesiton their work ethic. A guy who puts in the hours in the gym and works hard otherwise will see his bench totals rise, long arms or not.

Sherrod isn’t worth a first round pick imo. Even though RT and LG aren’t as critical of a position, I’d rather take a guy like Carimi or Pouncey who I don’t doubt can be fixtures at their position, than a guy like Sherrod who will either be a good finesse LT or wash out of the league. The problem with guys like Sherrod and Williams is if they can’t cut it as a LT they aren’t likely to be powerful enough for the other positions.

DEJESUS!!!

The difference between Sherrod and Williams is.....

Arm Lenght
 Chris Williams:32-3/4 in.
 Derek Sherrod:35-3/8 in.
Look at Robert Gallery, he was a stud of an OT in college but gets to the NFL and cant hack it at T. Why? because he’s built like a T-Rex. The difference between him and Williams is that Williams is more of a finesse blocker and that doesnt work so well when your trying to play guard.

Like it alot!!!

As long as Carimi is off the board first…

I’d also be ok with Pauncey

Just cant see the Bears

going any where near austin after the whole tank situation…..

You’re my offensive line and I like you all but you are all terrible at what you do....And I feel that I should tell you…..I would cut everyone of you if I could…..

True

I thought the same thing when I read the background on him last week.

Do the Bears have 2 picks in the 2nd or 3rd?

I think they only have 1

in each round, and no 7th

Don't see the hate on Sherrod but I would be happy if this happened....

my preference would be Anthony Costanzo but he’ll probably be first off the board so either Sherrod or Carimi would be awesome.

Not too high on Sherrod

would much prefer Carimi or Pouncey. As has been said, they’re guys who can (and likely will, barring injury) anchor a position for the next five to ten years.

In short, in life, as in a foot-ball game, the principle to follow is: Hit the line hard; don't foul and don't shirk, but hit the line hard!" Theodore Roosevelt

by LRT on Mar 17, 2011 1:39 PM CDT reply actions

What makes Pouncey and Carimi less able to anchor a position.

The point is, we really have NO idea who can anchor a position, or offensive line or not. See Chris Williams.

Plus, until now, Sherrod has been consistently rated higher than most other OT’s. In the last week alone, I have heard that the Bears will select Carimi, Solder, and Pouncey. It really doesn’t matter until we see who actually works out.

But I think it would be safe to say that if those two picks actually went down for JA, I would be moderately, to very excited.
