Santonio Holmes to refuse 1 year tender with Jets, is he worth a look?

As already reported by ESPN and SB Nation as well as smaller New York related media Santonio Holmes has refused to sign the Jets 1 year tender, meaning that he just might be heading to FA (whenever that is). We need to sign a WR who is aggresive and will compete for the ball as well as a decent route runner for the sake of this scheme. Follow me after the jump to hear more.

We all know Santonio Holmes as the Super Bowl 43 MVP who realed in the game winning TD reception with barely anytime left on the clock. He also was a superb WR for the New York Jets last season, even by missing his first few games from a suspension. He possesses great speed and hands to go with good route running and size, all of which are vital assets to the Offense coached by Mike Martz. Perhaps the most important bonus with Santonio Holmes is that he is an experianced veteran who would be a great tutor for our rather young WR corps.

Now a well understood risk with Santonio Holmes are his character issues, he has somewhat of a bad habit of getting nailed by the law. However; in his last season in perhaps the biggest sports market in the United States he was well behaved and apparantly did not have any bad "run ins" with the NYPD. He has been rather quiet this past season, and he has a fiery passion for the game.

My take on this; he would be a welcomed as well as much needed addition to the WR corps, as well as a rather low costing solution to our problems in the WR corps. If we want to contend with the Packers for the Super Bowl births, then we must not only strengthen our O-Line but get far more physical with our WRs. I say that he could be the #1 go-to guy for Jay Cutler that many fans have been clamoring for.

So Bears fans, whats your take on this situation...
