Monday Night Football in Detroit

I'm very excited that the NFL gave us Lions fans a Monday Night game, not only did they give us a great divisional game matchup, but we are at home as well! This will be very memorable for us, but I hope we can prove that we belong in the premier slots.

Last season in the opener, the Lions were defeated and even though most of you Bear fans won't  admit this, we should've won on that controversial Calvin Johnson "process" catch.  I will admit you guys beat us the second time around, but even then that bogus unnecessary roughness  call on Suh against Cutler was blasphemy.

Not to take away from the Bears, which I think is a pretty darn good team, but last season I think that the Lions played pretty well in both of those games and that's without our starting quarterback in Stafford.  If we can get one more solid draft and keep Stafford healthy, I think this season will be even more exciting. The Lions are no longer the NFC North doormat, so that the Bears and Packers can't wipe their muddy feet on them anymore.

Oh no, 2011 will be a start to a new beginning in Detroit. I believe that the NFC North division next season will be a 3 headed monster, excluding the Vikings because of the current quarterback situation and the fact they have a new coach. All 3 teams have either elite quarterbacks or a quarterback with the skills to be elite. All 3 have a good offenses or players in place that could be potentially be a good offense.  The Lions aren't as good as the Bears or Packers defensively just yet, but they aren't too far behind thanks to guys like Ndamukong Suh, KVB, Cliff Avril, Louis Delmas, and DeAndre Levy.

The Monday night game will be phenomenal. It's the fifth game of the season and I am anticipating a very noisy Ford Field with pumped up Lions playing a good hard fought game against a really good team in the Bears. This is the kind of thing that makes us fans believe that things are actually turning around for the Lions, as it's been 10yrs since we last saw them on Monday night.

This game will be like previous games, though with a lot more intensity. The Bears are always good when they play in Detroit and they always have a faithful fanbase that could amount to half the stadium. They have a lot of traveling fans who drive to Detroit and that will make the game even more exciting having all of those Chicago fans in Detroit! I enjoy talking to the Bears fans because they are just as knowledgeable about their team as we Lions fans are about our team.

This may not be that big of a deal for you Bears fans, but for the Lions fans this a huge deal! We have been suffering with a losing team for 10+ years and this is just a big step in the right direction. I'm more excited than anything that we are playing the Bears because I've always loved being around my in-laws while watching the game, a lot of arguments and debating goes on and it's wonderful.

Im thankful to have this opportunity to watch my favorite team playing against my in-law's favorite team on Monday night in Detroit. The Lions will be even better this season against a strong Bears team who almost went to the Superbowl last season, so it will not be easy for either team. May the best team win.

See you Bears fans in Detroit!
