We roll on with our Staff Mock Draft. Here's the full 1st round. And I'm next up...

With the 27th pick in the Windy City Gridiron Staff Mock Draft the Atlanta Falcons take...

Kyle Rudolph, TE, Notre Dame

I had Georgia OLB Justin Houston going here before he failed his combine drug test. I think Rudolph is a bit of a reach, but he is the #1 TE on the board. Trading back to the early 2nd round is an option, but if they can't find a trading partner, they'll take the heir apparent to Tony Gonzalez. Rudolph would provide another weapon for Matt Ryan. The 6'6" 260 pound tight is a good athlete and will find a home in Atlanta.

I don't like this pick simply because

Rudolph is viewed by many as a mid to late 2nd rounder and the Falcons would be majorly reaching by taking him here.

check the mocks lately

a few have him going to the Falcons with this pick. If I could have traded down I would have.

Yeah just because the mocks have him going there

still doesn’t make me like the pick.

A mock the other day had the Bears trading up to 15 to grab Tyron Smith.

Mocks are pretty lame sometimes.

I always say the only player that is OK to reach for is the top guy at his position.

Ryan is accustomed to a good TE on his team, & Gonzalez only has 1 or 2 more years, Rudolph would never last til they pick in the 2nd. Ideally I think trading back to get him is best, but that’s not allowed in our mock.
