Earlier, we updated you on SBN's Mock Draft going on at MtD, and now we're going to kick off our own here at Windy City Gridiron.  We've got one of the strongest set of writers in the network, so we thought we'd take a shot at our own Mock.  We're basically rotating picks, and up first is Adam:

With the first pick in the 2011 WCG Mock Draft, the Panthers select: 

QB- Blaine Gabbert- Missouri

Adam T:  I've been struggling with this one. I'm not sure that I see Gabbert or Newton as locks as franchise QB.  My inclination was to go defense, but when QB is the most important position on the field and you have the #1 pick in the draft, can you not take a QB if you think they are a franchise quarterback?  All the talk surronding the Panthers, seems to back this up. The only question is, is it Gabbert or Newton? There has been much leaked news that new coach Ron Rivera has told Cam Newton's reps, namely Warren Moon, that he wants Newton. I'm just not buying it. I'm not sure if I see the skill set or mentality that I'd like in the future of my team in Newton. Gabbert is much more polished and seems to embody the Peyton Manning-esque type of QB.  A kid who is smarter than everybody else and spends 17 hours watching game tape, so he knows what you and your defender are going to do before do. So the Carolina Panthers select Blaine Gabbert.
