From the early goings, to the resurgent '80s to the modern day, defense has defined the Chicago Bears.  Men like Ed Healey, Dan Fortmann, Bill George, Dick Butkus, Mike Singletary, Richard Dent, Dan Hampton,  Brian Urlacher and Lance Briggs have terrorize opposing offenses for nine decades.  They were bestowed the name "The Monsters of the Midway" in the early '40s.
