I doubt there are more than 5 people on this entire blog
Who would give the Enderle pick a B. I wasn’t totally against it but even I would give i a C at best.
Jay Cutler is still my quarterback.

My question to you ....
…. is who were they suppose to take over Nathan Enderle ? Who was that player that was gonna come in and make such a huge difference for us ? I , for one , would give the Enderle pick a B . We got a guy that can learn behind Cutler & Hanie , that can push Hanie to show us his best & a pick that keeps Mike Martz happy ( he hasn’t done badly grabbing guys late & turning them into great players …. Warner & Bulger come to mind ) .

Uh?
Quan Sturdivan was still available. And if you still hot’s for Enderle you could have gotten him in the 6th. Hell, … you could have gotten him as an UDFA.
I would have loved to see the 6th as a developemental, C/G or CB.

So to heck with grabbing a developemental ....
… QB & planning for the future you want a career back-up along the line or a couple of special teamers that will never start ? Sounds to me like we’re talkin about the same things just at different positions , only Enderle could start ( maybe not for us , but if he proves to be a decent QB he could start somewhere else ) . Also look at our QB situatuion last season . Hanie goes down in the preseason & we sign over the hill Todd Collins . Call me crazy but I’ll take Enderle over Collins every time .

My point exactly,
We could have had all three, but your comment on Collins is an unnecessary absurdity to even bring up here.
Collins was an embarassment to the game of pro football.
All this QB insanity was started when we spent a draft pick on LeFevour and then got burnt trying to sneek him thru waivers.
The book on Enderle is that he has a so-so arm, throws a lot of INT’s and moves like he has an anvil on his back.
Hope Martz signs an extension so we can see him develop his pick.

Ummm what book are you reading ??? The reason I ask ....
…. is the book on Enderle I’m reading reads like this …..
The 6-4, 240-pound, strong-armed Enderle was a favorite of offensive coordinator Mike Martz, who had worked him out and liked both his arm strength and intelligence. Martz has had a reputation for picking out under-publicized passers who can fit well into his offense, like Kurt Warner or Marc Bulger. The Bears deferred to his experience here and went for Ederle, who suffered through a poor 2010 season largely because most of his weapons had left school after a Humanitarian Bowl victory in 2009. The fact Enderle sometimes holds the ball too long probably won’t be as big a problem for him in Chicago because Martz’s offense actually requires this of his passers. Unlike QB Dan LeFevour last year, Enderle should be able to make the opening day roster as a third QB and will have competition only from Matt Gutierrez for that final spot.LINK TO INFO
And heres yet another book on Nathan Enderle …..
Looks the part. Outstanding size and arm strength to drive the ball into tight spaces. Extremely intelligent and has a strong understanding of the game — set protection and was given reign to heavily audible at the line. Works and practices hard. Very experienced, pro-style passer. Has physical tools to developLINK TO INFO
Seems to me like hes got a strong arm .

he's a 4 year starter in a pro style offense
If you go in the bathroom, turn off the lights, and say "Da Coach" 5 times while facing the mirror... Ditka will appear and slap the wussy right out of you.

We'll see
Every year we see these so called guards and centers in the late rounds do virtually nothing but be backups. I’d rather the Bears take valuable backup QB than a guard. They already have two or three of those on the roster.

I see your point but
to me, there is more value in a 5th round G/C or CB than QB. He MIGHT develop into a starter, over the course of 4 or 5 seasons but a 5th round OL could be a starter in just a year or two. If you consider that guards & centers generally aren’t a high priority and don’t really get taken until the 3rd or 4th round, then you could potentially get a top 10 G/C but by the 5th round you could be looking at the 10th or lower QB and there is usually a bigger drop off at QB than a position like OL.
Jay Cutler is still my quarterback.

Look,
Tom Thayer was a mid rounder (4th), Mark Bortz was an 8th rounder, by todays standards he would have been an UDFA, … “Fer Christ Sake”, Jay Hilgenberg was undrafted, when I think we where still going Seventeen Rounds!
And, if memory hasn’t totaly left, me, they where all starting by or around their Second Year!
I’m sure I could come up with more but “Oldsheimer” kicks in after about 10 minutes of brain straining.
But you get my drift, you don’t poo-pha these late round picks.
You go in with the attitude of striking gold.
pbanachi
Yeah
I think OL are a better value in the mid-late rounds than a QB, not to say there haven’t been good mid-late round QBs but let’s face it, the Tom Bradys and Bart Starrs are few and far between.
Jay Cutler is still my quarterback.

1. Matt Cassel ( 7th Round Pick)
2. Marc Bulger ( 6th Round Pick)
3. Marc Brunell ( 5th Round Pick)
4. Matt Hasselbeck ( 6th Round Pick)
5. Kurt Warner ( undrafted )
6. Jeff Garcia ( undrafted )
7. Tony Romo ( undrafted )
8. Dave Kraig ( undrafted )
9. Rich Gannon (4th Round)
10. Matt Schaub (3rd Round)
11. Joe Theisman (4th Round)
12. Brad Johnson (9th Round)
13. Daryle Lamonica (24th Round)
14. Dan Fouts (3rd Round)
15. Norm Van Brocklin (4th Round)

17. Joe Montana (3rd Round)
18. Bart Starr (17th Round)

I am not a teacher
But have many in my family… 2 A’s, 2 B’s and a C average A-? Wish Walter Football graded my classes

Heavily weighted in favour of the upper rounds, as you would expect. As someone said in the draft threads, the top two picks alone would warrant this draft being very successful, whatever happens next (then we possibly reach for Conte and Enderle, but there you go).
Acreman20: 127 hours is pretty decent.
awfullyquiet: How long is that movie?
Acreman20: 93 minutes.
Weighting
As I would hope, the first two picks (A’s) are given a significantly larger weighting to the overall grade as first and second round picks will most likely have a larger impact on the team than a sixth round pick.

It was refreshing...
To see a draft grade for Carimi and Paea of an A. Everywhere I read, people were giving B’s and B+’s. My question to them is how could we have done better than Carimi?
Does he fill a major need? Check
Is he arguably the best player left? Check
Then he has to be at least an A. If you fill one of your biggest needs with a player who was projected to go before your pick, then you get an A, no matter what.

+1
Although my grades are even more generous than this, I’m optimistic enough to say from top to bottom this is shaping up to be a very good draft.
Jay Cutler is our QB, and I for one am proud of that
