Why did Jay Cutler call Chad Ochocinco?
Is there a story here? Did Jay Cutler call Chad Ochocinco? Was it football related? And why can't I find anything other than the Ochocinco tweet about it? Chad is still a member of the Cincinnati Bengals, but all speculation is that he'll be released or traded.
Could he be plotting a move to Chicago? Here's the Tweet from Chad Ochocinco:
ochocinco Chad Ochocinco@JayCutler6 I missed your call, hit me back when you're free boss.
What does it mean?

What what what?!!!
Jay Cutler actually called him?!
Im not sure what to make of this. Is Jay Cutler interested in seeing Chad wearing a Bears jersey next season?!!

It is interesting...
I can’t imagine Jay being buddies with Ocho as they seem like complete opposites in terms of personalities. But, why would Jay be calling him. Were Jay and Kristen heading to Cincy for the weekend and needed someone to show them around?
Ocho isn’t everybody’s cup of tea, but I wouldn’t mind him in Navy and Orange.

It's not often to see Cutler contact other players in the NFL outside of the NFC North
I hope Jay Cutler is busy recruiting Vincent Jackson and Carl Nicks while he is at it!!
Aside from that Chad has a ton of talent but his attitude as is has me uneasy. But he has calmed down from all his trash talk on the Bears and to see him call Cutler “boss” makes me wonder, is there a secret “Ocho to the Bears” campaign beggining to unfold?!

Chad's a decent guy.
He talks all that smack in good fun. I don’t think there’s any character issues beyond him being on the Bungles for so long. I’d take him in Chicago in a freakin’ instant.
Chad could should those young guys
you have up there how to get it done. I think he needs a gunslinging QB like Cutler. Ocho thrives in pass-heavy offenses. I’d buy that #85 Ochocinco Navy & Orange jersey in a heart beat
The blood you see on my jersey could mean one of two things......either i keep running over the same guy trying to tackle me.....or.....I should really be wearing those pads they gave me!!!!!!

Good points from the both of y'all
There is one undeniable issue though, his age. He is 37 years old and albeit he would come in for a short period of time we should still target a WR that has a few more years left in them rather than someone who has maybe 1 more year left. Jay Cutler needs a target that can stay around for a while instead of a one and done WR. We already had a one and done player (sorta) in Orlando Pace, I dont see us going for someone with such little time left.
However he still has some talent so if and only if he portrays himself as a better person and convinces all of us he will put his best efforts forward, for a small contract I would be supportive, especially if Jay Cutler really wants him.

37...33.....same thing...
I’m curious as to who we’re going to bench / alienate if / when we do sign a FA WR?
"More cowbell" - Bruce Dickinson; "More bell cow" - Lovie Smith
I don't think we are really going to bench/alienate anyone....
-I don’t expect Aromashodu back.
-Hester will probably take limited snaps at WR to focus on ST play and may be brought in on more stunt-type plays or as a distraction.
-Bennet will continue to work the slot, where he is best.
-Knox will be an outside man / burner on one side.
-Fantuz will end up on the practice squad.
-Davis will be a ST guy mainly.
I think bringing in an experienced WR and improving the OL are both crucial to the success of the offense.

With the way Chad keeps himself in shape
I think he’s got more than one yr left in the tank. Ocho is gonna be around for atleast another 3-4 yrs at the level he’s at now. Overall, we’re looking at 5-6 more yrs of him. And that’s before he gets close to hanging up his cleats(football that is!)

Hmm...
Well…considering Chad is 6’1 and has decent speed, combined with the fact that Martz only had one “giant” WR in his system ( Calvin Johnson) I suppose if the price is truly right and he does show himself as a good team player, then I suppose Chad would be worth a shot.
Btw is he ever going to change his name back to Johnson?!

I think he did recently.
Though I can’t right now find the article where he did that…
Good
Although I can’t find any evidence about that, he still appears listed as “Ochocinco”

He's still Ochocinco right now
but he did say that he’s done with the “ochocinco” thing. It’s just a matter of time when he’ll change it back to Johnson. Probably after this season so he won’t have a repeat of having to pay reebok or whoever it was $250,000 for all those jerseys again

old men winter
Ocho’s talents have deminished a lot. TO was carson’s go to guy even after he and chad had more chemistry. I’m not saying I’m just saying. I like Moss/Holt/Owens if I were going for a vet.
by SuperBowlXX on Jun 11, 2011 7:25 AM CDT via mobile up reply actions
Big NO for Randy Moss
He played for 3 different teams last year and still didn’t show any change in his behavior or show that he has anything left in the tank. Plus if anyone deserves to be called Old Man WInter its definately Randy Moss. Thats just my 2 cents though.
And yes, T.O. had the better season than Chad Ochocinco but I also think if a better QB was throwing the ball in CIncy then Chad would have recorded his 8th 1,000 yard season. Plus I felt more teams focused on covering Ocho than they did on T.O.
Now Torry Holt would be interesting, because the guy was a legend in Martz’s system back in the glory days of The Greatest Show on Turf and I would assume he still knows the ins and outs of the Martzfense. The one real issue besides his age is his knee, he had to miss last season because of that knee injury. So I’m not sure how he would translate in Chicago. Could be a valuable tutor for our young WR corps.

I think he was referring to Santana Moss
Or at least I hope. He is actually a good fit for our team and is still pretty good despite his age.
Oh I would have no problem seeing Santana Moss in a Bears uniform
For the reason you cited, he would be a great fit.
Randy Moss on the other hand….

It seems odd doesn't it?
They’ve never been on the same team or in the same division so they wouldn’t really have had much of a chance to meet or get real acquainted. Unless Ocho was in the Pro-Bowl the same year as Jay but I don’t think he was.
Jay Cutler is still my quarterback.

C) Cincinnati is trading two first round picks, a third round pick, and Dan LeFevour or Carson Palmer to the Bears for Jay Cutler and a fifth round pick. Yes, this is a joke.

The only reason Dilfer would stay on the bull
is because it’s a mechanical bull on “slow” with some little places for his feet to stay and hold him in place or for him to stand on to merely appear to straddle the thing. Then he’d claim he rode that bull to a championship.

we all know chad ochocinco is always open
and jay likes to throw to receivers even if they aren’t open..so this could work
Well, this is exactly what I do when I miss a phone call from someone. Do I call them back, or send them an sms to ask what they wanted? No, I go on social media for everyone to see.
My money would be on Ochocinco trying to create the impression of a bidding war for him, since he’s unlikely to be returning to the Bengals.
