Poll: Jay Cutler and NFC QB Bretheren
The jury is still out on whether Jay Cutler can live up to the draft picks given up by the Bears in the trade with Denver, and quite possibly still out on where Cutler ranks among NFC QBs headed into 2011.
A quick look at the NFC numbers shows that Cutler ranked 7th in passer rating (86.3), falling behind Aaron Rodgers, Michael Vick, Josh Freeman, Matt Ryan, Drew Brees, and Jon Kitna. He was 8th in the NFC in passing yards (3274), 10th in completion percentage (60.4), and 6th in TDs (23).
We can do a tournament-style competition later, but for now, where would you rank Cutler among NFC QBs?

Brackets. I want brackets.
Actually I’d put him just a hair behind Romo. So, Brees, Rogers, Vick, Ryan, Romo, Cutler. I guess that makes him a very close 6th. Sorta between Eli and Tony. Middle of the pack then. But the AFC’s still the passing conference. Much better QB’s over there generally speaking.
Above all; keep 'em guessing, never let them lose their sense of confusion.
Rodgers, Brees, and Ryan are in front of Jay
But amongst Romo, Vick, Manning (Eli, of course), and Cutler its a toss up to me. Vick had a phenomenal season, but it was his first really good year as a passer and he played on a team with a better line and receiving corps. Romo, though he puts up good numbers, hasn’t demonstrated that he’s a leader, a winner, or that he’s very tough. Eli has a superbowl ring, but he’s demonstrated all of the inconsistency that so many attribute to Cutler. On a pure talent level, Cutler ranks right up there with the best; I’d probably place him fifth behind Brees, Rodgers, Vick, and Ryan.
I voted top-9 but I agree with everything you said...
Rodgers, Brees and Ryan are the top-3. Romo, Vick, Eli and Cutler are lumped together with Vick near the top. If he puts together another year like last, then his is definately at least #4 if not #3. I have never been sold on Romo and Eli is a less talented version of Cutler IMO. So, ultimately he falls between 5 and 7. Freeman, Bradford and Stafford have a lot of potential though.

My Top-Rated NFC QBs
1. Aaron Rodgers (GB) – Reigning SB MVP, nuff said.
2. Drew Brees (NO) – Previous SB MVP, stud.
3. Matt Ryan (ATL) – good young receivers around him in a good system.
4. Eli Manning (NYG) – Past SB MVP, often overlooked QB; great mechanics and pedigree.
5. JAY CUTLER (CHI) – needs to get over the hump in the playoffs
6. Michael Vick (PHI) – needs to show he wasn’t an one year wonder after his stint in jail.
7. Josh Freeman (TB) – good young team around him, can prove he is one of the best with another solid year around him.
8. Tony Romo (DAL) – needs to get over the hump in the playoffs like Cutler, but doesn’t have Cutler’s skill set.
9. Sam Bradford (STL) – played quite well for a rookie and will only improve.
10. Matthew Stafford (DET) – needs to stay healthy, could be quite the player if he does so.
After this it is hard to say with the rest of these teams since most will have rookies taking the helm (CAR, MIN, SF?), possibly free agents or players being cut (SEA, WAS), or God only knows at QB (ARI).
Only QBs ahead of him are Rodgers, Brees, Ryan, and Manning
in terms of ceiling, though, he is probably among the top 3 in the league
This
DaHamsta nails it. How many of these other QBs had TEH SUCK for a line last year?
I'm not so mean. I wouldn't ever go out to hurt anybody deliberately - unless it was, you know, important, like a league game or something. - Dick Butkus
My Picks
1. Rodgers
2. Ryan
3. Brees (had a pathetic year last year and no one seemed to notice)
4. Cutler
5. Vick (Likes to run and injury prone. Not a good combo)
6. Romo
7. Stafford (when healthy of course)
8. Bradford
9. Freeman
10. Hasselback

Eli should be at 6 sorry. I forgot about him. After that they are in the right order.
