Want it or not, Olin Kreutz has upper hand on Bears
"The Bears need to get him signed once the doors opened or they face even bigger problems on the line than they did a year ago" ~ Brad Biggs

Well i like kruetz hes a leader but his skills are gone
He was getting thrown around like a rag doll last year and he was never good at long snapping.I dont no whats out there but if he wants to much i would try to sign someone else.
Like a rag doll?
He’s never been a long snapper.

He can not snap in a shotgun formation, which is Cutler’s preferred method. Why keep him around if he is limiting your offense?

you do know he was coming of an Achilles tendon injury last year and that there are no other worthy centers available in F/A
he will be healthy this year and his leadership on the field would also be hard to replace.

Add in I think I can count on two fingers
the average number of times per game they ran a shotgun play.

and I don't think Cutler calls the plays or formations

How many times did he have a bad shotgun snap?
And who ever said the shotgun was Cutlers preferred method?

Kruetz does not like the shotgun snap
So the bears rarely use it, but it worked well in Dallas when they did use it.

Martz's system doesn't often utilize the shotgun formation anyway.
I’d say the OC’s preference generally matters more than what the center likes or doesn’t like. About the only place you’ll see Martz dial up a shotgun play is on a third down, third and long.

Also...
I just tried Google-searching this assertion that Kreutz doesn’t like the shotgun snap, and all I found was one “user-comment” that was an “I heard he doesn’t like the shotgun snap.” Do you have a link to an interview or anything where he said that?
He may not have a consistently very good shotgun snap, but don’t confuse that with “he doesn’t like it.”

So the question remains...
How many times did he have a bad shotgun snap?
They used it on occasion through his career. Employees do a lot of things they don’t like to do. I don’t like certain aspects of my job, but I do them.

I keep hearing a lot about Olin's diminishing skills.
I for one don’t buy it, not just because I am a Bears homer either. While I will readily admit he probably isn’t what he was 8 years ago, Olin’s is still an above average center in the NFL. Considering that our division foes have stocked up on behemoth nose tackles over the past 3-4 years, he played hurt last year, and the quality of guard next to him has been steadily declining over the same 3-4 year stretch. Personally I think you put a quality guard on the left side of that line and Olin might go back to a pro-bowl, at least that is what I am hoping. As far as I am concerned, he is still hands down the nastiest center in the league and one of if not the best pulling centers in the league. the man is dangerous when he pulls and gets in open space to throw blocks.
he's not the same guy he was 8 years ago
but he’s health and smart and the best choice as center of the Bears right now.

To Be Honest I Think Its Better We Let Kreutz Go
Put Garza in as center and grab two very good guards like Dahl and Nicks in free agency. It will be a net gain for us.
What have you seen from Garza at center that leads you to think he's better than Kreutz?
