Well then. Who’s going to catch all those passes in those nifty trick plays that no one expected us to run?

Lol

I will almost miss seeing that pic everytime we discuss Manu – except now I know he’s not squatting on 3 roster spots (since he’s that fat, you see).

If its free, take two.

If manatee goes, Olsen stays, and Spaeth turns out to be decent

This could go from whacky mess to a nice situation in no time. *If Martz actually devotes to integrating Olsen in his offense long-term.

Makes me wonder...

If Rosenhouse killed the trade.

Perhaps the Bears were allowing him to negotiate a new contract with a team that had made an offer and he misunderstood? Or telling him to see what Olsen is worth in the market for later contract negotiations?
Either way, the mass email obviously was not what JA was looking for and may have locked Olsen in for this year.

Find out what the other team wants to do. Then take it away from them.

by NormalFan on Jul 28, 2011 2:21 PM CDT up reply actions

I just think the Bears did not expect him to be so aggressive

Probably a communication mixup, not uncommon with this Bears staff

by 815Sox on Jul 28, 2011 2:36 PM CDT up reply actions

Martz isn't going to change his entire playbook

to fit Olsen into that scheme. Martz uses TE’s as another guard, which is why they went and got Spaeth. We all know that Martz has quite the ego, I just cannot see him making big changes for Greg Olsen

by 815Sox on Jul 28, 2011 2:38 PM CDT up reply actions

How many plays was Olsen out there for vs Shamumanleuma?

Just saying. If it was all about the big TE as guard #3… You’d probably not have seen olsen all that much.

Five foot three seems to thrive on his misery...

by awfullyquiet on Jul 28, 2011 3:11 PM CDT up reply actions

However

Martz isn’t the head coach. I think he was pushed to play Olsen last year. It seems like this year Martz is being given more control of the offense. The one UnMartzian thing the Bears are going to do is run the ball more. I am not a meathead “gotta run da ball down da field” guy but they need to establish the running game to establish the passing game. Especially if the offensive line remains poor.

by 815Sox on Jul 28, 2011 4:50 PM CDT up reply actions

If the offensive line remains poor

It really doesn’t matter how much they run or pass the offense is going to be poor.

Finally got rid of Manu; hell Facebook could block better than he could!

The trade rumors with Olsen seem to be dying off like they did last year, all while adding a decent blocking TE in Spaeth.

And we may finally be in the market for WR, all with the fact Olin may not be heading to San Fran anymore.

Can we say good news?

Jay Cutler is our QB, and I for one am proud of that

The Bears are eager to dump him, he serves little purpose with Martz as your OC. Other teams know this and will take advantage of it. Just the nature of the beast.

1st rounder

If we get the Panthers 1st, it’s a much better deal, seeing as Carolina is going to suck this year.

by tacologic on Jul 28, 2011 5:20 PM CDT up reply actions

its not going to be a 1st

but if the player is dan connor it SHOULD be a first. probably something like a third

Yeah, this doesn't excite me much.

Dan Conner.

Carolina’s third rounder in 2008 out of PSU. Played 27 games, started 8 (played 8) last season. 42 tackles, 21 more assisted, one sack, one pass deflected, one fumble recovery.

Williams

It’s true that he sucked for the Cowboys, but if he knows Marz’s system, he might have two good years in him. Especially if we get him on the cheap.

At first glance, today hasn't been a great day IMO for the Bears...

But, I will wait until everyone is signed before I pass final judgement. There is still a lot of talent out there and the Bears have a lot of money to spend. It will be nice having an extra draft pick next year after the last few years. Martz must have a Olson, Manu…, Davis are all gone and Martz will fill their voids.

We dont need a shutdown corner according to the Tampa 2 evangelists

The Dline creates so much pressure the QB never gets a ball down field. At least thats the theory they keep telling me so forget Nnamdi, 0% chance.

Okay, so what a day, we trade Olsen and and release a useless fat ass TE, and so far we haven’t upgraded shit, we got another useless fat ass TE and a punter
