As you can see DA Coach when he was DA TE had some great stats as a Bear. Lets see how G-Reg matches up.

I don't see anywhere in the stats where Greg was Ditka, at all. Maybe the comparaison is more in Gregs best is about equal to Ditka's worst I'll give him that.

Greg please enjoy your time in Carolina, you asked for a trade last year and this year you got it. Thanks for everything, but you will never be Ditka. Ever.

I hate JA, but

he wasn’t comparing Ditka’s stats to Olsen’s. He was CONTRASTING the type of tight ends they were. Ditka wasn’t a speedy hybrid tight end-WR, though he was great at catching and scoring and running with the ball. Ditka was a pounder who could block.

JA was actually demeaning of Olsen in his comments, not flattering.

Ditka’s like a Tony Gonzalez or an Antonio Gates. They can block and they don’t have to out run the defense to get the ball. They run good routes and can break away from tackles.

Angelo was still pretty dumb for making that comparison. Mike Ditka could catch the dang ball, he wasn't a pure blocker like Spaeth.

No he wasn't dumb.

To say he was looking for a HOF guy is never a bad thing, I think some of us are still wrapped up in Greg’s poetential vs his actual productivity. I liked Greg as much as the next guy but he wasn’t living up to the hype. Greg asked for the trade last year, he got it this year, just like Thomas Jones. I think we need to give JA credit for trying to give players what they want in their “business” life.

I heard on the score yesterday

That Olsen’s agent asked for a trade again this year and JA said if he does not want to be a Bear he would accommodate him. Even though Olsen lied about not requesting a trade last year and JA covered for him. I think it was Jason Goth at the Noon start of the Dan McNeil show.

I like Greg, but....

No comparison. And not just because i’m a Bears fan. Ditka was one of the best receiving TEs in the history of the game.

Gates is a fair comparison. Olsen is not.
