who would trade for him now?

the bears tipped their hands by not playing him in the last preseason game, and then dropped their hand all over the floor when the release-then-unreleased him. nobody is that desperate for a RB that they can’t wait. best explanation I’ve heard was on 670, where they speculated that they are trying to make sure he doesn’t go to the Lions.

I'd love it if he took his 2.4 yards to Detroit

but he’d probably play angry and do decent against us

It wasn't a trade

Jerry Angelo just screwed up again by telling Lovie Chester was gone and then backtracking (like what he did with the Ravens) hours later.

by Gaak on Aug 29, 2011 10:48 PM CDT up reply actions

I am not a big Angelo fan at all, but why does everyone assume this was only his fault?

Isn’t it possible that the management team discussed their plans and Lovie jumped the gun? It’s not like Lovie has been the epitomy of good communication in his time with the Bears.

None of us really know what happened exactly but there is more than one person involved in these decisions at Halas Hall. I think both of these Bozo’s make the franchise an embarassment.

Kind of figured that since Marion Barber is out for an unknown time with a calf injury

Once Barber is good to go, then Taylor is good as gone.

if he’s pass protecting then he doesn’t need to move more than 2.4 yards

Security guard maybe

I can see him chasing down drunken fans, only to fall over 2.4 yards from where he started running.

Actually

Now that I think about, moving him to LT or RT makes perfect sense seeing as no force on Earth can seem to move him more than a yard forward or backwards from the line of scrimmage. He’d be a WALL for us!

Lovie was just trying to be honest w/CT, IMO. The front office was then like, “Uh, naw mayne. Let’s get something 4 him.”
skjensen Sean Jensen
My belief is this: Chester wanted clarity, after DNP Saturday. Lovie gave it to him but front office still trying to salvage pick before Sat

According to Harry on ESPN1000 Taylor didnt play because Angelo was close to a couple of deals on Taylor for low round draft picks. Thats why Taylor DNP on Sat. Those deals fell through. Taylor approached Lovie about his status on team. Lovie told him the truth Barber is #2 RB and he would be released. Front office then wanted to know why Taylor was not at Halas Hall this morning and the agent replied “um cause you guys cut him?” and Tim Ruskell said “um Taylor is dumb and misunderstood” (Harrys words). Bears trying to work a trade for Taylor. Seems to be a disconnect with Angelo, Ruskell, and Lovie. Afternoon Saloon seem to hint at a power struggle between Angelo and Lovie.

Angelo

has been slowly ruining his reputation around the league the last couple years. First Gabriel tells the story of how we jerked James Starks around (then blew the pick on the QB who went to Cinci), then we jerk Baltimore around on the first round trade, and now he’s jerking Chester Taylor around over a 6th round pick.

I don’t mind Lovie. I think he is a solid coach—not great, but solid. But I think Angelo is an awful GM and is quickly becoming an embarrassment for the franchise. He seems to be completely disorganzed and communicating poorly.

I can’t wait until someone at Halas Hall gets the stones to can his ass so we can have a real GM around here.

Angelo as a GM when it comes to finding defensive talent in FA and the Draft

I’d give him a B+…but when it comes to Offense and Public Relations…closer to a C- maybe lower…if Cliff Stein wasn’t such a good contract negotiator it might be lower

A B+ is

generous when he hasn’t hit on a LB since Briggs, a safety ever, a CB since Tillman (or Vasher I guess), and any impact DEs despite investing heavily in those positions in the draft.

I think

you lose credit for a draft pick when you trade them away, then have to trade back for them…It means you misevaluated them at least once, minimum.

Maybe the answer

is to stop listening to Martz on personnel matters. Between Lefevour, Todd Collins, Manu, Chester Taylor and now Roy Williams, Martz has proven himself to be completely incapable of evaluating personnel matters.

Unforunately, looking over his shoulder are Lovie and Angelo, neither of whom knows anything about offensive talent either. It’s the blind leading the blind.

Seems to me Lovie is trying to save Angelo’s ass on this one. He’s the coach and had every right to cut a crappy performer but apparently Angelo didn’t tell anyone he was trying to gangster a pick for the guy. Angelo can’t even communicate with his coaching staff properly. That’s just sad!

missed 2 pre-season games and he's not a veteran, needs the game time to prove he can make it.
