Football's Back Baby!:SMD's Post Game Report (Week1)

The Falcons came in to town as the favorites by every Main Stream Media source, including most Chicago media sources. The Bears won the game 30-12, and if you scroll down you'll get my post game analysis.

Player of the game

I'm going to give this to a few different people. I believe on defense the whole defensive line (including rotating player) deserves the game ball here. They put enough pressure on Ryan to cause him into making some mistakes. On offense clear up until the Jay Cutler INt, i was going to give the game ball to him, however, that INT turned me away from that and I am giving the offensive game ball to Matt Forte

My honorable mentions would be Henry Melton on defense and Roberto Garza on offense.

This game came right down to what everyone expected it would, the battle in the trenches. the Bears dominated the LOS the entire game. They came out to stop the deep pass, and they did just that. The Bears allowed too many yards on the ground, but when a team commits to stopping the pass like they did, they will give up more on the ground. Henry Melton, Amobi Okoye, and Julius Peppers all had sacks. Peppers and Melton had 2 apiece. Brian Urlacher showed that he is still a game changer at MLB and should still be considered a top 1 or 2 LB in the league. On offense the quick start really impressed me. Roy Williams showed up to play and went out and did what he was expected to do. Johnny Knox had a couple very nice catches, but also gets credited with a drop, but he still played a solid game. Matt Forte needs paid. Please.

Play Of The Game

I had this between three different plays. Urlacher's INT, the Pep/Lach fumble TD, and Hesters 53yd screen play. I'm going to have to give it to the Hester screen play because it fully shows that Devin Hester can be a legit WR in this offense if he gets the right looks. He's still ridiculous and deserves credit for what he is in this offense. A legit WR.
