For those of you participating in the Windy City Gridiron leagues - Pigskin Pick'em, Gridiron Challenge, and Eliminator Challenge - here's your week one recap on how things stand.
With 22 entries (23 if you count pw112473's ohfer in week 1) the Pick'em league is by far the most popular, and after week one, is the most hotly contested and interesting of the three. While no one was perfect (who is) two entries tied for first with twelve correct entries - Lweb23 and 67stingray1 - while yours truly and two other participants finished with eleven correct choices. Both leaders mischose the Kansas City Chiefs and Tennessee Titans as winners, while Lweb missed on the Browns and Rams as well and stingray was wrong on the Broncos and Giants.
With only six participants, the G.C. league is tightly contested with first and last place only separated by 29 points. Brendan Hess lead the way with 154 points thanks to Tom Brady, the Bears' D/ST, and Matt Forte (you homer). Krystlesantoro is only three points behind, as he got help from Brady as well but no help from the Pats D/ST. I'm stuck five points behind doshi and currently rank fourth, thanks in part to choosing Matt Ryan (idiot) and Nate Kaeding (reason #2321 why I hate kickers).
The E.C. was the league I looked forward to the most - after spending time reviewing all my picks, I thought "man, I could get'em all right!" Sadly, that feeling died around 3:30 EST on Sunday when the stupid Browns flatlined against the Bungles. Six of us are already out of the running, with four total choosing the Browns and two being knocked out by the suddenly terrible KC Chiefs. The twelve remaining winners picked five different games correctly (NE, Ari, SD, Philly, Houston). Fear not, I'll still keep updating the league til everyone's like me, a loser (although you'll get to be a winner for at least one week, you lucky devil).
