Packers S Nick Collins out for season
Collins was carried off the field on a stretcher after sustaining a frightening neck injury in the fourth quarter of Green Bay's victory at Carolina on Sunday. Collins spent the night in the hospital and returned to Green Bay on Monday afternoon to meet with the team's medical staff.
Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Collins was present for a team meeting Monday, wearing a neck brace but otherwise in good spirits.

Unfortunate for the Packers...and the NFL in general
he’s probably one of the top 5 safeties in terms of big-play ability. Tough loss.
Wish him luck with recovery and rehabilitation
This is a real bad break for the Packers
He was a real differance maker for them in their Super Bowl run. Truly one of the great safeties in today’s NFL.
On a bittersweat note, this is a big time break for the Bears. With Roy Williams and Earl Bennett coming back Cutler could have those big plays down field wide open come Sunday.

Concur. Bad for Pack - Good for Bear

That was... bizarre.
We’ve seen a lot worse bumps that came out with a cup of gatorade and a few minutes in the bench. I guess everything that could go wrong on that situation happened.
Might be a Packer, and I wish half of them were out for a week with ingrown toenails, but best wishes to him.
Neck injuries aren't about how hard you get hit.
It’s about how you hit it. The slightest little twitch can completely massacre your neck. That’s why the NFL has so many rules against leading with the head and whatnot

Never like to see an injury. Especially this type.
Hope Collins recovers completely.

He's a guy I'd love the Bears to have
Hope he gets well and continues his career soon.

Just curious
How long does his contract last?

This is too bad for a guy with a bright future in this league
Putting the team he plays for aside the guy is a playmaker and nobody deserves a neck/spine injury. Good luck with the recovery bro, the fans of the NFL got your back.
White Sox fans need not apply.

As a coach I never understood it when kids would get excited over an injury.
They’d say, “Hey coach, great news, their best athlete can’t compete tonight!” And I’d always reply, “If you want to be the best, beat the best.” Too bad for the Pack. Truly.
Above all; keep 'em guessing, never let them lose their sense of confusion.

Its certainly helpful for the Bears that he isn't playing.
But I do hope that he’ll be able to recover and play again, rivalry or no, career ending injuries are awful.
