Here's what jumped out at me:
Forte: 1500 receiving yards. That would be awesome, no question, but twice as many receiving yards as rushing yards?
Melton: 16 sacks. Wow!
Peppers: 11 sacks. A good year, to be sure.
Sanzenbacher: 11 touchdowns. That would be awesome, too. He’ll be doing well to get half that when all is said and done.
Would 600+ passing attempts be a team record? I’d think it would be, or at least be in the top 3-5 all-time.
"No I'm not going to 'limber up'. You ever see a lion stretching before it takes down a gazelle?"
As a point of reference: Faulk under the Martz offense
Receiving / Rushing
2002 537 953
2001 765 1,382
2000 830 1,359
1999 1,048 1,381
When you go to somebody's house, you don't crap on their floor. Being a fan of one team does NOT give you license to be a dick to fans of another.
Corollary: When people are visiting your house and behaving themselves, them being a fan of a different team is NOT a reason for you to piss in their beer.

Maybe we should try Roy Williams at safety

Biggest thing that jumped out at me....
Urlacher with 5 Defensive TD and 11 Ints. Scary.
How boot ol’Iron Hands Roy Williams finishing with 11 tackles? Ahead of Bowman and Conte.
Gotta love the End Around stats.
Can’t wait for Barber to get some touches.
Cacti are prickly.
But, also by your extrapolated stat machine, we'll go 5-11.
That is not such an amazing stat.
But thanks for this, it’s fun.

After week 1 we were projected to go 16-0.
Too bad my pause button was broken.

I would also like to point out
That by using your method of extrapolation, Dilfer will still be a mediocre player, at best, statistically.
His female vaginal irrigation factor will also remain extraordinarily high.

I wish just once Martz would call the FB Dive
so the End Around would have some competition.

Good to see
Ol Boy Roy showing up… Forte is Faulk 2.0, except Angelo wants to pay him like Anthony Thomas… Sacks are under 50! Yeah!
If its free, take two.
That's our sacks on them.
Our O-Line is projected to give up 75 (down from 88).

Speaking of sacks
Be sure to keep a look out for this weeks Sackwatch, tomorrow at 11am Central, where we break down every sack the Bears give up…

The fact that we took 1 out of 3 of these games is good
ATL looks to be massively overrated, but a win is a win. Saints and GB are both very very good teams that look like SB contenders. The Bears have the same problems, it feels so redundant. The D is showing its age, which is another concern. The last thing we need is them fading towards the end of the season.
Season is still young and we can turn it around. The Lions game coming up is going to be simply huge. That is really going to show us if we have a chance. Personally, I do not feel very good about this team. But I never try to get myself excited for the Bears, I make them prove me wrong.
Yes.
But how do you feel about Matt Spaeth’s 5 touchdowns?

Also not sure if anyone saw thing
Does not paint Payton in a good light. Now, I have been hearing that he had a girlfriend for a long time. It was pretty well know. The drug stuff is new. You have to wonder how much of this was induced by head injuries.
I know people are going to immediately write this off, but this author is very well respected and has written several expose like books. He is also brought us the infamous John Rocker interview.
I didnt read the link and I don't plan on reading the book either
I just have one request, is it ok for us as a society to actually let someone Rest In Peace. I’ll remember Walter for being a RB and that’s it, his off field life has no bearing on why I liked him in the first place. He was and will proabably always be the greatest football player of all time.

He is a famous figure
He is going to be written about. So I guess the answer is no. Man has been writing books about famous figures since we invented the written language.
Well there is a difference between writing about history and making money off the dead.
I understand that he was a famous figure, I just don’t see the benefit in the book being written so long after his death.

Just FYI that comes off alittle asshatish.

Frankly, Scarlett, I don't give a darn
Am I surprised? No. The heroes and idols we grew up loving have been having the walls torn down on their supposedly perfect lives for quite some time. Doesn’t change my opinion on him – he wasn’t beating up his family, his demons afflicted him personally first and the fallout happened to his family. Unfortunate, but not surprising. Ever since the Great Steriod Home Run race between Sosa and McGwire, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Easter Bunny was a racist, or if Joe Buck was actually a human and not a product of Skynet.
If its free, take two.
Why would that change your view of 34?
Everyone has their darkside, even the best individuals out there right now have something that they’re hiding. If you can’t handle seeing your heroes fall, then we need to stop putting them on a pedestal.
Anyways, Walter Payton was a good dude, just because he was suicidal and abused drugs, doesn’t change that. If anything, this just makes him that much more of a human, and that is something we tend to forget about athletes.

If that is directed towards me
Where did I say it “changed my view of him”. I am not surprised, because I have heard most of it before. I remember my uncle saying he had a girlfriend over a decade ago, they lived in the same neighborhood and it was obvious to everyone. I also him talking about him being intoxicated.
Not saying you, there are a lot of folks out there who look up to Payton, and it'll change their views on him
Not an indictment against you. Should’ve worded myself better :P
by Midway Bully on Sep 28, 2011 8:56 PM CDT up reply actions
Well of course it is going to have an impact on how you view you personally
You can “look up” how he played the game but also realize that he had a lot of personal demons that caused him to make lots of bad decisions.
Lots of people are just ignoring it or pretending that it is false. The biographer’s job isn’t to make you feel good, its to tell the truth
My interest is in the head trauma he recieved and its effects on the athelete
We are learning more and more about head trauma and depression which leads to drug abuse. Look at the three hockey players who killed themselves recently. All suffered concussion and had depression because of it. They than began to use drugs and alcohol, which is glorified in Hockey (alcohol not drugs)
Yeah, I've seen those hockey stories, it's real sad
The NFL and even the NHL to some extent are modern day gladiator sports. Guys just duking it out, and health has been secondary for the longest time. There are going to be a lot more stories like this coming out, and it’s real depressing to see the guys you used to root for look so defenseless and human, and that is what we seem to forget, that these guys are no different than us mentally at the end of the day.
