What's Cookin' for Week 4

Well another weekend is approaching and another Bears game will be upon us, this time the Bears are hosting Ron Rivera and his Carolina Panthers with rookie Cam Newton at QB, Steve Smith at WR, a couple of okay RBs, and our old friend Greg Olsen. I think the Bears should get a win at home and get to 500, that being said, we need to fix our offensive game plan, hey Martz there is a RB on this team. So on my menu for this game, I'm going to slow roast a pork shoulder and make some BBQ Pork sandwiches, with my homemade BBQ sauce which I use whiskey in, I will have some potato salad and cole slaw for the sides, and will be washing this all down with some ice cold Sam Adams Octoberfest, I really like this beer, goes down smooth.

All I can say is can I come over on gameday?

A properly slow roasted pork anything is a thing of beauty and judging by your homemade sauce comment you prob know what your doing. You just made me want to run out and buy a few pounds of tenderloin and get to work. I’ll be over at 11:40am on sunday, leave the front door ajar for me……

LOL, I bought some tenderloins too, I’ll do those sometime next week.

Cleaning the grill tonight,

and going to fire it up for the first time in several months. Probably looking at some spicy jalapeno chicken sassages from Trader Joes, homemade pineapple coleslaw, with chips and queso dip.

Highland Gaelic Ale will be the primary libation, with some homemade sangria supplementing the festivities. (red wine, oranges, lemons, limes, strawberries, sugar, and ginger ale)

That sounds great, like the Sangria idea

That's funny

We’re doing pulled pork sandwiches, and my wife and I decided literally minutes before clicking on your post.

How do you make your BBQ sauce? Do you use vinegar or tomato base or both? I’d be interested to hear what you use.

I may have to go out and get some Oktoberfest. Have you tried Paulaner’s? Good stuff. Besides that, I’ll be drinking Dale’s Pale Ale and some Bush light.

Me too

but it’s a bit heavy for a lot of drinking. I like the 7%+ alcohol content it has. Great bang for your buck.

Yeah I’ve had Paulaners, I like it. My sauce is a tomato and molasses based, but I also make a cider vinegar based sauce to mix into the pork, which is a mix of cider vinegar, cajun seasoning, black pepper, brown sugar, hot sauce and red pepper flakes. I won’t go into specifics, I do share recipes, but not my bbq sauce recipe

Cool

I’m making this recipe out of the crockpot in which it’s a thinner, apple cider vinegar base. I’ll spice it up a ton though.

You officially planted a seed; I bought some Sammy Oktoberfest!

I bought a 12 pack of his Harvest Fest, it’s a mix of different beers, all good, I recommend this too
