Bears to interview Greg Olson for passing game coord./QB coach this week
No, not Greg Olsen, but as Pete pointed out in today's Den, the Bears are set to interview the Greg Olson that coached in Chicago under Dick Jauron and most recently was the offensive coordinator in Tampa Bay. His time spent as a coach goes back to 1986, and among the names being bandied about he has the most NFL coaching experience.
Hit the jump for a little more.
It's not known where Olson stacks up among a list of potential candidates that includes former Jaguars offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter, former Seahawks offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates and University of Miami offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch.
Koetter has a few higher stature offers out there, but he's close with Mike Tice, and both Bates and Fisch have a history with Jay Cutler.
What do you think Bears fans?

I'm thinking it will be either Jedd Fisch or Jeremy Bates that will be hired for the position
Both have history with Cutler, and both know how to get the best out of him.
Jay Cutler is our QB, and I for one am proud of that

You would think they would
do that but I think it will end up being someone Tice or Lovie have a history with (ie olsOn or clyde christinensen or dirk koetter)…..

Why would Clyde Christensen be in that list?
He’s never worked as a QB coach. He’s been an OC on two different teams; however, he specializes with the WRs, not QBs. Dirk Koetter makes since given his history with Tice, but Christensen makes zero sense.

Maybe because he and Lovie were in Tampa Bay together from 96-00.
And maybe because Indy has a new GM, will probably fire and hire a new HC. And new HC bringing in his own guys.
Just a guess.

Also they are looking for a
passing game coordinator more than anything else…..Someone to help in the passing game more than anything else….Not just a QB coach….

Whatever makes the passing game work and makes Cutler happy I'm all for. I am a bit alarmed at Freeman's regression under Olson though!
Yeah, that doesn't inspire a lot of confidence.
Bates or Fisch please.

So has Bates really done anything since he and Jay parted ways?
Maybe Jay doesn’t even want Bates now that he burned Jay by taking the Seattle OC job a couple years ago. Just a thought.

Bates would be my first choice
It sounds like he was made into a scape-goat in Seattle. I don’t know much about the other two. But it doesn’t sound like Olsen has been blazing a trail since his “success” under Dick Jauron.
I still think we should have kept Tice as OL coach and hired a “real” O.C.
Who wants that job?
The Bears D has been showing cracks in previous years, and if the dam breaks the offense doesn’t have the tools to keep the ship afloat. That means there is a good chance of a “one year and done” scenario. Anyone with a another option will take it. Though I hope I’m wrong, I doubt anyone will be happy withthe eventual signing.

Here's some history on Olson from The Bucs site:
He appears unsoft.

I started to read about OlsOn...
and then I was distracted by the pix of the cheerleaders. What are his qualifications again…? ;>P

have no fear
If the bears we’re to tank it next season lovie would be gone leavingg the way clear for cowher to come to chicago I’m pretty optimistic about this lol

Why does everything think Bill Cowher is so great?
One Super Bowl, same as Lovie. Yes, Cowher won it, but how many seasons did it take him to get there?
Cower, Fisher, both “yelling on the sidelines” types of guys. Somehow fans confuse this for being good.
Two Superbowls for Cowher.....not one.

What are you talking about? He's only won ONE SB and that was in the 05-06 season. He has been to 2 SB's and has won only once..

he was talking about trips to the SB.
lovie’s been to one SB, did not win it. Cowher’s been to two SB’s, won one of them.
btw this is not an endorsement of cowher, just clarifying.
But Cowher been around forever before winning his 1st though
