AFC Divisional Playoffs: Denver Broncos at New England Patriots Open Thread
Yes, it is here. The match-up predicted in texts of old. The pure one vs. the evil empire. Unbridled optimism vs. methodical destruction.
The Denver Tebows vs. the New England Bradys.
Fate was not so kind to Tim Tebow and the Broncos when they last played. Sure, the Broncos punished them on the ground in the first half, but untimely mistakes and Brady's nose for downfield passing helped the Patriots edge them out. What will be the outcome today? We'll know in about 3 hours...

Did you notice that Tebow is looking up?
It’s not a coincidence.

No matter what Denver does
the story of tonight is the redemption story of Alex Smith. Damn.
Hey Rose. I don't see the appeal!
Alex Smith>Tebow
"Violence is not always the answer."
"Violence is the question, and the answers always YES!"
I just want the tebowmania to die
I dotn hate tebow. I hate the hype. I hate ESPN talking about him all the time even during an NBA game so much
"Violence is not always the answer."
"Violence is the question, and the answers always YES!"
It's light years beyond ESP'N the magazine
People in Bangladesh are Tebowing, and they’re not Christian.

yeah
Tebow might not be a great QB, but one can’t argue that he’s a very nice, very charitable guy. It’s the hype that gets to me, that’s all.

Oh yeah anyone noticed
How the tebowness mostly happened at home?
"Violence is not always the answer."
"Violence is the question, and the answers always YES!"
Yeah when he can play with a short field
because of his kicker and the altitude.
Hey Rose. I don't see the appeal!
In a golden era of TEs we let a
dinosaur OC talk us into trading away ours. I still can’t believe it. Thank God he’s gone.
Hey Rose. I don't see the appeal!
Slow down Tiger it's the first quarter...
at that pace we’d all be passed out by half!
There's a fine line between stupid...and clever!
what you mean "we", kemosabe?
Jay Cutler is our quarterback, baby! Please pass the nitroglycerin tablets.
Finley is a FA
and likely won’t be overpaid by the Pack.

I doubt the Bears will over pay either
They think Davis is the second coming. I do like him but have doubts cause of his speed.

He's
overrated imo. But he probably the best te in FA

Let's not make out Olsen like he is Gronk..

this is just painful
At least it wasn’t a fumble

wonder what cutty would look like with bradys oline
Or what Brady would look like with cutty’s. It is a world of difference when you actually get protection and your guys all hit their marks and hold onto the ball. No doubt Brady is a very good QB, but it’s the oline that takes a good QB to an “elite” level. Jus sayin

Agreed but Brady has always been more accurate than Cutler thus less turnovers and more production.
by frenchbears113 on Jan 14, 2012 8:05 PM CST via mobile up reply actions
this is true
But I still have faith that, with an improved oline, cutty has what it takes to become elite.

See that is why I'd still take Brady over Cutler at this very moment.... Brady almost never misses his receiver in stride
by frenchbears113 on Jan 14, 2012 8:37 PM CST via mobile up reply actions
Sure, that's true. But in fairness, Brady's receivers are also pretty damn awesome
they hit their marks, they fight for the ball, they hold onto it. How many of our receivers would’ve made that diving Gronk catch in the endzone? Doesn’t happen very often on the bears, that’s for sure.

Please, don't repeat "stupid penalty on 68" again

really
MarkPotash Mark Potash
TE play today another rebuke of Martz/Angelo. Gronkowski was selected with a #Bears draft pick!
Yeah really
Some think that the draft is a crapshoot and it is to some degree but if you have a plan and a formula, you don’t keep missing on talent.
Paea over Torrey Smith, Lafevour over Antonio Brown and…oh hell just take a look at the 2nd round of the 07 draft http://www.nfl.com/draft/history/fulldraft?season=2007#round2
Where we traded down after trading Thomas Jones and took Dan Bauzin over Eric Weddle, David Harris, Justin Blaylock and others. That draft alone is what’s costing us now and set us back for at least 5 years. Unbelievable.
Hey Rose. I don't see the appeal!
Sets us back 5 years?
It’s easy to critique in hindsight, but I do think JA made too many mistakes.
I like Paea a lot.
"I'm sore and I'm pissed off. I'm a baller. I want to feel the leather. I love thumb wars. 6-8 weeks? 6. follow me for healing, Jay Cutler does" - Jaysthumb twitter acct
You can like Paea but Smith is contributing to a playoff team
and went for 841 yards and 7 TDs. He’s be our best WR. It’s not hindsight if you have a plan for what you want for your team. WR a need? Draft one. Saftey has been an issue since Mike Brown got hurt? Don’t pass on Eric Weddle or let GB jump over you and make you settle on Major Wright when you know you wanted Morgan Burnett.
They got guys that get paid a lot of money to have insight. Blaylock would have been our starting guard or David Harris could have been a young starting LB that we now need. So yeah it set us back at least 5 years.
Hey Rose. I don't see the appeal!
Smith is very one-dimensional and very similar to the Bears WRs
I’d rather have Paea. D-line and O-line are much more important. If that improves the Bears would have their WRs playing better.
Not sure if Burnett is really that much better than Wright. Jury is still out on that one.
The Bears had a very good draft in ‘11, if they do the same in ’12 they’ll be in the playoffs. Won’t set anything back five years. They were in the NFC title game last year with that.

Is a deep threat. That’s all I seen from him, too similar to the WRs we already have…

I seriously thought the kids were talking about Tebow in the commercial.
Tebowmania is getting to me….
You think?
I live in Colorado. People are insane over him. It’s like a cult following without the drugs, suicide and homicide.

Jesus Christ @Jesus_M_Christ
I convinced Dad that the Broncos game started later, so he couldn’t help Tebow. He doesn’t really understand time zones.
Holy cow that was a superior throw by Brady
4TDs in first half.

It didn't die after the 29 turnovers in 3 games
It won’t die now. I’m expecting a spring/summer filled with stories like “Will T-Bone lead the Broncos to the Superbowl? Film at 11”.
I’m wondering if a GB win would be worse. At least Rodgers makes a sweet Vandenbosch impression.
Tebow supporters will blame his receivers for "dropping" the ball. The guy can do no wrong in his supporters eyes. At least I can admit when he's done well but they can t and won't admit when he does wrong.
by frenchbears113 on Jan 14, 2012 8:44 PM CST via mobile up reply actions
This x1000
He played about 4 good games this season, including last week. Any other QB would be ripped for coasting on the D to keep games close (like Alex Smith, for instance), but T-Bone is painted as some sort of mystical guru with powers beyond the unknown. Dude is one hell of an athlete, and that’s what makes his dangerous when a lot of teams decide to play prevent and then can’t cover the pass because they’re too worried with the run.

They refused to play a safety high

Tough go Broncos. I was pulling for you guys
As a University of Florida alumnus, and someone who lives in Detroit and Ocala FL. I’m a big Tebow fan, he’s a great guy. I think he might be a better RB/TE though. He should still have a big roll, but I’m not sure about franchise QB.
Either way, my best friend went to U of M and is a huge Brady fan. So listening to him down talk Tebow right now is pissing me off, and I’m suffering just like all of you.

I don't mind the pats, it's just a rivalry thing between my friend and I.
I rip on his wolverines even though I’m from MI, and he rips on my Gators because I went there. The two qb’s playing are biproducts of those universities.

to me, Tebow hate is as irrational as Tebowmania
He’snot the one running stories all over the place. He’s an undersigned Qb with a winning spirit, and his fans love him. Good on him!
I was hoping for a good game, and it ain’t happening. Ah well. At least we don’t have to see Brady sporting his Bieber hairdo like last year when he wins again. :(

This. Don't hate Tebow per se
But the credit for someone who in my eyes is not even average is annoying.

I hate the hype...
And constant talking about him ALL THE TIME. Even during NBA games Tebow this Tebow that. Just can’t get a break from the guy…I just want the hype to take a long long break, and or go away all together……
P.s. I do NOT hate Tebow, I hate the hype and constant talking about tebowmania is WAAY outta control
"Violence is not always the answer."
"Violence is the question, and the answers always YES!"
Well
He’s hated pretty much proportionally as any other guy. Rodgers is a smug asshole who only pushes numbers because he has about 20 eligible receivers on the field, Brees is a stat-padder, Brady knows the opposing D audibles and calls, Manning is an under-achieving choker, Cutler is a whiner, Roethlisberger is fat and a pig, Matt Ryan is a Class-A choker, and so on. Heck, when Brady was all over the news on the “perfect season”, the hate was reaching epic proportions.
Paraphrasing Trainspotting, I don’t hate Tebow, I just think he’s a wanker, and we’re worse than that, because we were beaten by a wanker.
