Just right.

He was voted to his first pro bowl.

Too Cold

Needed to be in many more Pro Bowls before now . Man is a baller and is way underrated !

I agree with you

Too cold. He may not get the 5-10 ints that other probowl caliber corners get, but his knack, no, skill at stripping the ball away makes him a big asset to the team.

Peanut's ratings are never "just right" for me...

I see too much stuff like this out there. There’s also more than their fair share of blind defenders of him out there. I don’t think that anybody really has Peanut rated correctly right now, though the ratings tend to be evenly split between “he sucks” and “he’s amazing”.

In short, though, I’ll just post exactly what I posted on the thread I linked…

He’s exactly the same player he’s always been. He is not significantly better or worse than he was in 2006. He has limitations in man coverage, but he plays zone as well as anybody. He SHUTS DOWN Calvin Johnson, something nobody else in the NFL can do. He causes turnovers. He makes the tackle. He provides run support. He’s not Revis Island or anything like that. But he’s also not disposable. Both he and Timmy are capable CB2s. Do we need a CB upgrade? Yes. But that upgrade IMO is not to Peanut. It’s to whatever’s lining up across from him.

In "Madden" terms

I believe Peanut is somewhere between an 86 and an 89.

A very solid player, but probably suited best for your #2 corner

I always think that Madden overrates its players.

You’ve got a 100 point scale. Use every point of it. The way it’s presented, it’s really a 40 point scale. And nobody should be a 100 overall. That means a player without even minor flaws, and we know such a player doesn’t exist in the NFL.

except

No player ever gets the 100 overall… and I’m pretty sure no player got the 99 overall. I htink this year they rated the players pretty fairly.

(I goofed: the lowest rating is 41, the highest is 99)

Still, that’s a 60 point scale masquerading as a 100 point scale. There should be players rated as 10s or lower.

He's not one of those guys QBs plan around during the week

but as far as opportunistic guys go, he’s one of the best. If the ball carrier is in his zone, he will jump at him and try to dislodge the ball. This is why a guy like LeSean McCoy carries the ball way closer to his body against the Bears than against any other team.

How do you know they don't plan around him during the week?

In the metaphorical sense

of QBs becoming extra careful not to throw in his direction, I doubt he’s a top concern. Peanut seems much more of a guy that forces the receivers and backs to prepare, not much the QBs

All By Himself

The last time Peanut was paired with a DB that was better than average was Vasher before he got hurt. The pass rush has gotten slightly better, but he has had to get used to the Quarterback having all the time in the world for his receivers to get open. He causes more fumbles than any DB in recent Bear history, and he’s able to make the pick when it comes his way. He’s underrated.
Enjoy Hawaii, Peanut.

Too hot

He routinely plays off receivers, he’s not that good in the zone anymore, and he focuses on knocking the ball out more than tackling when tackling needs to be the primary concern.

That’s the system he’s in. when it comes to playing off the receivers

i think that has more to do with the type of defense we run, on why he plays off receivers
