Tillman makes plays in his first Pro Bowl Mayer: In the first Pro Bowl appearance of his nine-year NFL career, Charles Tillman made plays on defense and special teams in Sunday night's all-star game in Hawaii.

Former Navy football players believe in new Bears GM Phil Emery Haugh: Nobody can predict yet whether Emery's sterling character credentials will make him a good general manager — or a bad one. Tepid early reactions have more to do with the Bears' track record than Emery's.

How much power will new Bears GM Phil Emery have? Mully: The first order of business for new Bears GM Phil Emery is to define his role.

Bernstein: Phil Emery? Um, Ok. The Bears decided on their new general manager after sifting through a list of names that caused no excitement, whatsoever, arriving at the perfect culmination of their tedious, uninspiring process.
The Bears' housecleaning was anything but Isaacson: Phil Emery will have to work with Lovie Smith to succeed.

It was awesome watching Tillman making big time plays
Yet I’m not surprised Forte didn’t get too many touches. And, he still couldn’t run between the tackles even with a Pro Bowl O-Line in front of him. But, I don’t think that game will affect his value at all. It’s good to see him healthy again.

He didn't look TOO healthy
which is probably why he didn’t get many touches.

This Lions fan shows how to lose with grace and dignity…..
When I assume, I'm not "making an ass out of u and me"... I'm actually putting u between me and an ass.
You're late fella....
we made fun of them over the weekend. Although making fun of Lion Nation should be a daily treat..
Hoping that Peppers does the belt dance over Rodgers crumpled on the turf
Tillman played a good game, Corey Graham too (he was this close of catching an interception on the second Brandon MArshall TD), Forte was unsurprisingly absent since he’d be paired with two pass-happy QBs. Still, good to see them up there.
If we could strike a deal with the Dolphins for Brandon Marshall (I’d be willing to give at least the first round pick for him, considering we need a WR anyway), I’m sure he would gladly come here. Even as he accepted the MVP he mentioned Cutler, I doubt there’s anything he’d like more than to be reunited with him.
I hope the team and the league pay Hillenmayer what he’s due. The guy is a class act, and deserves to be trated accordingly.
No way you trade a first for Marshall.
I think the Dolphins got him for a 3rd rounder two years ago. I’d trade maybe a 4th, at most a 3rd for him.
E.F.K.
I'd give 'em a second rounder ....

Let the Emery show begin, he’s on the clock already, FA is upon us, we have many needs. Lets hope he focuses on talent, and he can draft better than JA.

FA is not upon us yet. We have a little while until that happens.
Wouldnt it be funny if we had another DE with the last name Salters!
Emory is a solid talent evaluator!

I too agree with this decision but Ruskell did have a hand in drafting Carimi, Paea and Conte. As the head honcho he was awful but as a scout he may have been better. Oh well no reason to speculate now. Hopefully this is a good sign!

But was it also true that last year each coach chose players they wanted?
Like in round 1 Tice got Carimi, round 2 Rod got Paea, round 3 and 6 Lovie got Conte and Thomas, and in round 5 Martz got Enderle. I’ll admit, Ruskell deserves some credit for the success of the last draft.

Not surprised
With the temporary exception at HC, Emery probably has full control over all positions under GM. And a wise move, this was.

That mock draft over at NFP has the Bears taking Adams out of Ohio State. Both Floyd and Jeffrey are still on the board. I won't be mad if the Bears get Adams at LT.
by frenchbears113 on Jan 30, 2012 10:24 AM CST reply actions
That'd be...
almost better because finding a quality FA LT is damn near impossible, whereas finding a quality FA WR is comparatively easy.

Yeah agreed! Adams is a big guy and is a good run blocker and he was beasting it in pass-protection all week at the Senior Bowl. Doesn't he have an injury history though? That's what kind of scares me but I may be wrong on that one.

Not sure about the injury history
But he was a part of the big scandal which resulted in multiple suspensions including himself, and a complete change in direction at Ohio State.

I wouldn't mind Adams in the 1st
He always had 1st round talent, and he played lights out in the senior bowl.
