Pro-Bowl is a joke, and needs to go
After watching maybe 10 minutes of yesterdays Pro-Bowl, I was sick, and a little p*ssed off. The NFL should be ashamed of themselves by even having this embarrassing game even played. I think the NFL needs to scrap the Pro-Bowl, I've seen pee-wee games that were more entertaining, to see the NFL's so-called top stars play a game in the fashion they did yesterday, was a joke, and to me the NFL is giving it's fans a great big middle finger with that meaningless game.
So here's my idea, tell me what you think. I say you can still vote for the Pro-Bowl players, and they can be named at halftime during the Super Bowl, which would be better IMO than the musical acts. The players will still get their bonuses, and the recognition of being a top player for that season.
Now to replace the awful Pro-Bowl game, this is what I propose. Take the two last place teams, and have them play a meaningful game, winner gets the first pick in the draft. It would at least have something on the line. And I don't want to hear about the possibilities of injuries, it's football, and the teams with the first and second picks stink anyway.
What do you think? Does anyone have any other ideas?

Either that, or the Skills Competition.
I want the Skills Competition to come back. That was entertaining!!!
But I like the idea of teams playing for the #1 pick. It would at least make the game mean something…
Nevermind, I see it above
That might be fun. Although players seem to not like the idea of tanking to get a player, who knows if they’d like the idea of having to play an extra game for a draft pick.
Neutral Field, move it around, maybe to different colleges in states that don’t have a pro team???

I don't see any way the players union would ever allow that though
Getting hurt in that game if you’re an impending free agent would really suck.
Yeah, they should bring that back.

Terrible idea. Why should the worst teams be rewarded with a trip to Hawaii ?
Also, I can just see the worst team complaining for losing that game….it wouldn’t actually promote better play either.
I htink this idea but add in the skills competition

They will not take away halftime shows for that
The halftime show is part of the allure (along with the commercials) used to draw in the populace that doesn’t care for the actual football part.
Hence the use of big, safe, popular artists. It’s why Arcade Fire won’t play the halftime show—as much as hipsters might love them, the general populace would just shrug.

AMEN!
I always turn to the sports section first. The sports page records people's accomplishments; the front page has nothing but man's failures.

Gotta admit though
it’s funny to watch a PAT where all the lineman just stand up and engage, nobody.

Picking on what I've said on my "Bob Costas says something irrelevant" moment
I wonder if actually there’s nothing wrong with the format of the pro-bowl, and the players only want to take their families on a short vacation, hang around with former team mates, play along division and conference rivals and fool around in a scrimmage, and the only thing wrong is that the event is broadcast as a regular game. food for thought.
pro bowl gets higher ratings
than mlb allstar game, which actually impacts teams come world series time. no way they change the game.

and I don’t know why, IMO all of the all star games or pro bowls, are worthless

may just be bc the NFL
has a bigger fan base but, yea they’re all basically worthless but i dunno they are a celebration of the best players each year and gives fans a somewhat watered down version of what the best of each sport look like competing against each other.

This game is pretty dumb.
The only way I can think of to make it better is to somehow focus on One on One competition. maybe 7 on 7 drills. Pass rushing drills. No contact running game drills, maybe an obstacle course for RB’s, they are superstars. Skill competitions all around for every position, but really something extra for the QB’s. They are the real superstars in this league. Basically a glorified training camp, more or less. But really make it a learning experience for new fans, showcasing the skills, technique and talent of these players who are supposed to be the best of the best, Maybe it’s not flashy enough… but almost anything would be better.
Bearsh!tt!n It ain't obscene- I'm a Bears fan that likes hittin and exclamation points.
Play the Pro Bowl in the Preseason
The only way to generate interest in the Pro Bowl is to play it in the preseason, imo. Play it the week before the Hall of Fame game when everyone is hungry for anything NFL related. On top of that, you get the added bonus of getting the actual Pro Bowlers who were voted to the game. Where do you think Urlacher and Briggs would want to be…in training camp for a week, or Honolulu? There would be the obvious technicalities like what about a new coach installing a new system, or injuries, however, if you’re just talking about generating real interest in the game, I think this is the only way it would happen because the Pro Bowl will never be played at full speed.
Play the game, but make it flag football.
