Former Chicago Bears head coach Mike Ditka suffered what is being described as a 'very minor stroke' today.
According to the Chicago Tribune's Dan Pompei, former Chicago Bears head coach Mike Ditka suffered a very minor stroke today and was hospitalized, but Da Coach didn't seem too concerned: "I feel good right now and it's not a big deal".
Ditka is 73 years old, but often seems much younger. I could easily tackle this news with a different angle (think: Superfans), but being reminded that even Michael Keller Ditka is human can be a sobering experience.
Pompei says that Ditka was playing cards tonight when he noticed his hands weren't working properly and that he was having trouble speaking. Based on coach's response, it doesn't seem serious, but he will get the weekend off from the broadcasting studio at ESPN.
On behalf of Windy City Gridiron, we send our thoughts to Coach, and wish him what we know will be a speedy recovery. Rest well, and we will see you next week.
