Matthew Emmons-US PRESSWIRE
There's a shake-up going on with the Chicago Bears offensive line. Imagine that.
It's becoming hard to keep up with at this point, but that's what Chicago Bears fans are used to in the middle of a football season -- Musical chairs with their offensive linemen.
It started (sort of) with the signing of Chilo Rachal in April of this season, and the subsequent release of former 1st round draft pick Chris Williams in October.
Yesterday, we learned that Rachal had been benched and James Brown had been promoted from the practice team. Rachal didn't take that news very well, left Halas Hall, and returned this morning in a bad emotional state.
Now we're learning that sophomore offensive tackle Gabe Carimi has been benched, according to Michael C. Wright.
I'm guessing this means Jonathan Scott might get a chance, but other plug-and-play possibilities would be inserting Chris Spencer back into the lineup somewhere, and kicking someone out to the outside if needed. Also available would be Edwin Williams, if called upon.
This looks to be going from bad to worse, but it's not up to me to point fingers. All I know is they are looking more and more like the Bears OL of the last five seasons, and it's probably still largely Jerry Angelo's fault.
Stay tuned...
Just how bad did Carimi play on Monday night? Check out this weeks Sackwatch for the gory details.
