After a few week hiatus, the Windy City Gridiron's Former Chicago Bears Watch Committee is back with a winner of the Ex-Chicago Bear of the Week. Cedric Benson, aka DJ World Peace.
Former Chicago Bears 1st rounder and current Green Bay Packers tailback Cedric Benson, has found something to pass the time while he awaits a decision on his injured ankle. He's not just a DJ, but according to his Facebook page, he's a "Celebrity DJ". Now this is just pure speculation on my part, but I think adding the celebrity in front of DJ is to let people know that he may not be very good.
If Benson is able to practice, he's eligible to come off the "designated to return" injured reserve list for week 14, but it sounds like season ending surgery may await for his Lisfranc injury. If he does go under the knife, I wonder if that will hurt his vision to spread World Peace through his music?
Deadspin is reporting that Benson, who spins under the name DJ World Peace, has worked a few clubs in Austin, Texas, including a gentlemen's club. I suppose if I wanted to do my part and get the World Peace message across, there are worse places to start that with some strippers.
While I dig the moniker from Ced, I can't help but think about the name change of Ron Artest, and how positively that altered the public's perception of him.
Congratulations from the WCGFCBWC goes out to Cedric Benson, keep spinning young fella...
