Chicago Bears middle linebacker Brian Urlacher wins NFC Defensive Player Of The Week and defensive back Sherrick McManis claims NFC Special Teams Player Of The Week.
And the awards keep piling up for the 7-1 Chicago Bears. After a 51-20 drubbing of the Tennessee Titans, it makes perfect sense that the Bears would have some more recognition coming their way.
Brian Urlacher and Sherrick McManis have each claimed an NFC Player of Week honor for their week 8 stellar play.
Urlacher was named NFC Defensive Player Of The Week for his trifecta of a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and an interception he returned for a 46 yard touchdown.
McManis was named the NFC Special Teams Player Of The Week for blocking a punt that led to Corey Wootton's 5 yard TD return.
According to the Bears team site, Urlacher and McManis are the first teammates to win a weekly honor since 2008.
I suppose it would have been greedy to expect Brandon Marshall to add the offensive player of the week award after his 9 catch, 122 yards, and 3 TD day. If it wasn't for Tampa's Doug Martin going absolutely nuts against the Raiders, he may have.
